GHS / GEHS Scholarships
December 2nd, 2024
Local Gretna Scholarships are open!
There are over 70 scholarships available to GHS and GEHS seniors!
- There are approximately $100,000 in scholarships to give away this year.
- Pay attention to the descriptions of which school(s) are eligible to apply. Many donors have increased their giving this year to offer scholarships to both schools. However, some have opened applications to both schools and will only pick one recipient.
- Military scholarships are for those entering the military or for those whose family members serve or have served.
- Please read the applications thoroughly before you apply. Some have very specific criteria while others are broader.
Best of luck to all students applying! Local Honors Night will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Gretna High School. Counselors will notify students who receive an award that they have won approximately two weeks before Local Honors Night.
Due on January 15, 2024!
Schoolinks also now has a Scholarship Finder!
Log into Schoolinks, click on "Finances" and "Scholarship Matching".
My scholarship application needs my "unofficial" transcript. Where can I access that?
Go to family.nebsis.org under "Student Reports", click "Transcript". You can upload it from there.
What if I need my "official" transcript?
For your college?
Please remember that in order for your transcripts to be sent to a college you have applied to, you MUST mark that college application as "Complete" in Schoolinks. Also, make sure you have filled out the FERPA waiver as well, so that we have permission to send your transcript and letters of recommendation! Email your counselor or stop by the counseling office if you need any assistance with this--we know it's a new system and are happy to help!
For your scholarship?
If your scholarship application is requesting your "official" transcript, please reach out to our secretary in the counseling office.

Additional Resources
The FAFSA is now open for the 2025-2026 school year! Please see the steps below to help prepare for December.
Starting with the class of 2025, Nebraska public high school seniors must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or submit an opt-out form to graduate.
The 2025–26 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) opens Dec. 1, 2024. Filing the form is essential to be eligible for grants, scholarships, work-study, and loans.
Here’s how to be ready:
1. Create your StudentAid.gov account.
2. If you’re a dependent student, a parent must create an account as well.
Checklist for Account Creation:
• Name as it appears on your Social Security Card.
• Date of birth.
• Personal email. Use one you will keep long-term as you will use it repeatedly.
• Social Security Number (SSN) if you have one. If not, see below.
Need an account for a parent? Check if one is required.
If you’re a dependent student, the "Who's My FAFSA Parent" tool can help.
No SSN? Parents without SSNs will create accounts by selecting “What if I don’t have a Social Security Number?” Do not use an ITIN in place of SSN. This handout may be helpful.
As always, please contact your School Counselor with any questions!
