A Week Full of Energy and Excitement at Marshall High
Dear Marshall Families,
What a fantastic week it’s been! I had the pleasure of visiting many classrooms, and I’m excited to share that instruction is back in full swing. The energy in the air was contagious, with students diving into a variety of activities. From inspiring speeches and lively theatre rehearsals to creative video productions in English and engaging history discussions, our students were shining! A special shoutout to Mr. Soto, who used the economics of Yondr to bring his lesson to life—what a clever way to connect learning to the real world!
Looking ahead to next week, we’ll be conducting our Middle of the Year (MOY) assessment on i-Ready. Families, your encouragement of your students to perform well is so important. Please encourage your student to give their best effort—we use this data to guide our programming decisions. Here’s a bonus: students who perform well on the MOY will be exempt from testing at the end of the year! We already have many students exempt from this test. They will enjoy snacks, games, and movies during the test-taking time.
Next week we will begin serving lunch at an additional location. We will set up a mobile station in front of the 500 building to decrease the lines in the main cafeteria. The rollout was delayed due to the air quality. We have plans to build a permanent kiosk in the future.
Wishing you all a restful and wonderful weekend!

I will host (2) two parent Webinars on February 6, 2025. Split between a 9:00 a.m. webinar and a 4:00 p.m. webinar. I will post the link information the week of the webinar. It is rescheduled as we continue to receive updated guidance from the district and we fine-tune our plans based on student input.

We want to express our heartfelt concern and support for the Marshall High families impacted by the fires in LA County. We are here to support you any way we can. We are working on the ways we can best support these families at Marshall High. If you know of any families, teachers or staff that have been impacted, please email us to let us know by emailing us at board@marshallhighptsa.org.
It is times like this that show the bonds that exist within a community, and we are so grateful to be surrounded by so much love and compassion from our Marshall High community. Thank you for all of your donations and volunteering to help our beloved LA community.
Here are links to two Go Fund Me campaigns of families at Marshall High if you are able to donate. Please help spread the word.
