Hope everyone stayed safe on Friday and enjoyed the weekend.

Our Fall Festival that we had to cancel due to the weather on Friday night is rescheduled for Thursday, October 24th. More information to come- but mark your calendars!

Happy Track Out, Track 4 and welcome back, Track 1!

As you are dropping off your child(ren) or picking them up, please slow down in our parking lot. We have cars backing out of parking spaces and people walking in the parking lot. It is very dangerous when people are going too fast in the parking lot. This is most often occurring if you are running late to drop your student off or are late to pick them up at carpool. Please remember- carpool ends between 4:00-4:10. Thank you.

Writer in Residence- 4th Grade

We are pleased to have Poet Mr. Michael Beadle join us at Carpenter for the next week to work with our 4th graders on writing. As Mr. Beadle worked with Tracks 3 and 4 last week, some excellent writing was taking place. Can't wait to see what the students do this week!

MadScience- a 4-week Science Club! Register today!

Calling all our mad scientists at Carpenter! Join us for our first 4-week Science Club with MadScience, where our students will learn about "Fantastic Forces. " The attached flyer includes details.

Registration is open! Hurry, we have limited slots available! Secure your spot now!

Dates: Tuesdays, October 8,15, 22 and 29

Time: 3:45 PM - 5:15 PM

Cost: $95

The club will be conducted by MadScience staff in Mr. Hann's Art classroom, starting promptly after dismissal at 3:45 PM and concluding at 5:15 PM. Students must be picked up at the carpool lane entrance at 5:15 PM.

Spelling Bee Information

On Thursday, we had our classroom spelling bees for Tracks 2-4 for 1st-5th graders. I stopped in on many of the spelling bees, and I loved how the students were cheering for each other. Each classroom winner will receive the spelling bee study list on October 23rd via email. We will not provide any spelling lists before that day.

Track 1 will have their classroom spelling bees on October 17th.

Carpenter Elementary is participating in the annual National PTA Reflections Art Competition! The artistic theme to respond to this year is Accepting Imperfection, and entries are due by October 15.

Students can submit an entry in one of six artistic categories: visual arts (paintings, drawings, etc), music composition (an original song), photography, film production (video), literature (short stories, poetry, comics, essays), or dance choreography (captured on video). Students must include a title and an artist's statement with their work explaining how their artwork connects with this year's theme.
