Tumuaki Korero
Kia ora e te whānau,
This term is flying by… and what a busy term it has been so far! So many exciting learning opportunities are happening within the learning spaces as well as in Te Taiao - the environment that surrounds us. Teachers are currently updating progress and learning goals in Hero and these will be completed by Friday 28 June. Learning conferences will be held during week 2 of Term 3 and bookings will be made available in Hero.
A notice came home yesterday about the Wairau Cluster Cross Country. In the past, we have always participated as a whole school but this year we have decided to hold our own school cross country later in the year. However, if your child would like to participate in this event, please return the permission notice by Friday 14 June.
Next week we have the Life Education Trust visiting Spring Creek School. The children will participate in sessions with Graeme and Harold the Giraffe about friendships and Resilience. We love having Harold visit our kura!
A reminder for whanau bringing their children to school by car, all children must be in an approved child restraint until they're seven years old, but to reduce the risk of injury it's recommended they remain in a booster seat until they can safely fit a vehicle seat and seat belt. Many children need a booster until they're around 12 years old.
Wow, almost $1600 raised so far in our Colour Fun Run Fundraiser! Thank you so much to the whanau who have created a profile for their child and have started fundraising. Well done to Noah who is currently at the top of our leaderboard. If you haven’t had a chance to register for this fundraiser, please pop in and see Ness and she will help you set it up. Your child can earn amazing prizes as well. And if we reach our target of $2000, I get slimed!!! The money raised will be going towards improving our outdoor areas with some cool playground markings etc.
We are currently re-establishing our Friends of Spring Creek School Group (FoSCS). This is a great way to get involved in school through events, fundraising and also meeting other SCS families. This is not a huge commitment, just what you can do, when you can. If you would like to find out more, there is a meeting in the school staffroom today at 4.30pm. Or if you can’t make it today, pop in and see Ness to find out more. We really appreciate any support and love having our whanau involved in our amazing little kura.
Enjoy the rest of your week!
Ngā manaakitanga,
Cheryl Alderlieste
