Sep. 22nd-29th SNYM News
Welcome to the St. Nick's Youth Ministry Update
WHAT IS STEWARDSHIP?
The USCCB answers this as, 'Safeguarding material and human resources and using them responsibly are one answer; so is generous giving of time, talent, and treasure. But being a Christian steward means more. As Christian stewards, we receive God's gifts gratefully, cultivate them responsibly, share them lovingly in justice with others, and return them with increase to the Lord.'
After each of the Masses this weekend we are all encouraged to enjoy fellowship, refreshments, and learn more about the St. Nicks committees and groups downstairs in the Social Hall. This will be a chance to learn more about the volunteer opportunities at St. Nicks. We can sign up to commit or just to get more information.
Our Youth & Teens would not only be capable of volunteering for many of our committees and groups, but would also be great assets to our church by filling some of these positions. Our Youth & Teens are all so very talented and are a blessing to our parish!
***Youth & Teens, it would be greatly appreciated if you can help put away tables and chairs in the Social Hall after the noon Mass this Sunday.*** -Mrs. Beth

ANNOUNCEMENTS
WE NEED YOU!
EDGE is still in need of assistants. It would be ideal for us to have 3-4 volunteers who could rotate with others requiring a committment of only 1 Sunday per month.
Per the Diocese policy for the safety of everyone, a minimum of 2 certified adults are required to be present for all Youth Ministry activities.
Please prayerfully consider completing your certification, and/ or asking individuals who you think would be a willing volunteer. Or, you can submit suggestions for me to contact. Thank you. -Beth
Many thanks to Shannon & Rob Blackburn for blessing us with their ongoing assistance in HSYG!
EDGE - MIDDLE SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP
RECAP FOR SEP 22
Last week EDGE participated in Safe Sunday!
We began with a Fire Drill. The Youth did so well in exiting the building calmly and quietly, but finishing in a straight line proved to be complicated, haha. We will practice more to improve.
We then viewed videos and slides covering bounderies then shared in discussion of how these need to be applied to protect themselves and others. They also completed a worksheet for online safety and had many helpful tips to share with each other. See video below.
Our time flew by with Safe Sunday activities, so we did not have time fore any games, but I promise to make it up to them this week! As long as the weather is good and temps are reasonable I will try to provide outdoor activites, so please ensure the Youth bring appropriate attire. Thanks! -Mrs. Beth
Many thanks to Justin Renner for joining us at Safe Sunday!
COMING UP ON SEP 29
This week EDGE will begin Encounter, the Bible Timeline for Middle School from Ascension Press.
This fall we are going back to the basics and getting more familiar with the Word of God. I have learned that while they know scripture is in the Mass every Sunday, our Youth don't always understand it. This will be an opportunity to have the Bible explained in ways that are more relatable to them and help them to practice using it outside of the Mass.
At our first day of EDGE I showed them examples of what we will be using and I was so happy to see their curiosity and interest for this program and the Bible! -Mrs. Beth
(see the promotional video below for a preview of Encounter.)
HSYG - HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP
RECAP FOR SEP 22
The HSYG never ceases to impress me with their maturity, knowledge, and care for others.
Last week they viewed 2 videos for Safe Sunday. Both sparked very good discussions led by the Teens. Experiences were shared, along with thoughts, opinions, problems, and solutions. I am so thankful they have this safe space to be open and honest together.
After sitting while watching and chatting for the first hour, we needed to get some energy out, so we headed outside for new game called 'Drop The Tray'! It was more of their favorite... chaos & mayhem! They worked together, they failed together, they laughed and had the best time TOGETHER! I feel confident in saying this will be one game they will want to play again!
See video below.
It was a little chilly with a breeze and we learned that many of our Teens need to start bringing hoodies, jackets, etc. They love to be outside, and as long as the weather is good and temps are reasonable I will try to provide outdoor activites, so please ensure they bring appropriate attire. Thanks! -Mrs. Beth
Many thanks to Shannon & Rob Blackburn for blessing us with their ongoing assistance in HSYG!
COMING UP ON SEP 29
This week the Teens will begin Venture, the Bible Timeline for High School from Ascension Press.
Last year they expressed their enjoyment of covering the Gospels during our Lent Study and how they looked forward to more like it! Because of that I felt it was important to fulfill their interest and desire for the Sacred Scripture and found Venture.
At our first day of HSYG I showed them examples of what we will be using. They not only responded with their approval, but also their excitement for this program. I am so excited for them and with them! -Mrs. Beth
(see the promotional video below for a preview of Venture.)
