The Week at a Glance
Good Evening Westlake Families,
Wednesday, November 3rd, Westlake High School will host the Probe College Fair for seniors from all South Fulton High Schools to learn more about post-secondary options after high school. Probe is a resource to connect students with the right school to meet the student’s individual needs and career goals. Hundreds of colleges from across the nation attend Probe each year to reach thousands of Georgia high school seniors. Attire is business to business casual.
This week the Class of 2022 will celebrate Senior Week. The student-leadership has outlined a theme for each day:
Monday - Dynamic Duo/Twin Day
Tuesday - College Day
Wednesday - Spotlight Day
Thursday - Onesie Day (appropriate attire only)
Friday - Senior T-Shirt Day
Moving forward each newsletter will recognize students of the week in a variety of categories by teachers, counselors, and administrators. I look forward to seeing who makes the cut each week.
Parents please check Infinite Campus each week and look into your student's TEAMS to see outstanding assignments. Each week all 9th, 10th, and 11th students must complete a total of three Achieve 3000 assignments, one per subject in ELA, Science, and Social Studies. Achieve 3000 assignments should be completed each Thursday by midnight.
Kind Regards,
Jarvis I. Adams, Principal
High School Culinary Camp
Fulton County Schools, the Georgia Restaurant Association Foundation, and the Fulton Education Foundation are partnering to present “Fulton Connect,” a two-day culinary camp for high school students interested in the foodservice industry. Participating students do not need to be enrolled in a Culinary Arts program.
Students who complete the two-day camp will earn ServSafe® Food Handler certification, learn from a Certified Master Chef, and engage in professional development in the areas of public speaking, workplace communication, financial literacy, and professional etiquette. A uniform, transportation, and meals are included in the program. Please see the attached flyer for details and use the following link to apply: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeJcaJq8rfmWNhdT5_67Vi6Ust-lw6qZiKeVvrBArU05GhzDA/viewform.

School Bus Safety Message from FCS to Parents
Dear Fulton County Schools Families,
School bus safety is a top priority for our district. While parents may sometimes have complaints, comments, or suggestions for bus drivers, it is important to understand our buses run on very specific schedules. Please do not board the bus for any reason. It is illegal in the state of Georgia to impede a school bus. If you would like to speak with someone about your bus route or have a concern, please give a note to your school bus driver with your name, bus stop location, and contact information so our Transportation department can get back to you. We look forward to delivering your students safely to and from school.

Disney Dreamer Program
Attention ALL WHS Students
National Voter Registration Day is almost here!
We are pleased to announce the start of Westlake’s chapter of the When We All Vote Student (WWAVS) Program! This program was founded by Michelle Obama in 2019 to encourage teen participation in state, senate, and congressional elections and raise awareness of civil voting rights. Did you know youth ranging from ages 18 to 29 makeup at least 20% of eligible voters and are also able to register to vote at 17 1/2 years old? Did you also know at least 80 electoral college votes depend on the voices of the youth? Since 2018, there has been a rise in youth activism, civic responsibility, and engagement. The best way to get involved is to have an interest, register, spread the word, and vote. Westlake will host our voter registration drive in partnership with The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Tau Epsilon Omega Chapter on Tuesday, September 28th, National Voting Registration Day. There will also be flyers posted around the school with QR codes to become involved in the WWAVS chapter and Voting Registration Day. For more information, contact Devyn Storms (WHS Senior), president of Westlake’s When We All Vote chapter or Señorita Wilson in room 551.
