Attendance
The district's full Attendance Policy can be found at the following link: Handbook Policy - Attendance. Please reach out to our attendance secretary, Mrs. Sarah Thompson, with any questions. thompsos@sgasd.org or 717-225-4731 x 1561
Consistent attendance at school is a key pillar of academic progress and social and emotional learning. Students will feel better about themselves and their studies when they are invested in being in school and on time. The skill of attendance carries far beyond school, including in post-secondary education, and employment. It is necessary to lay the groundwork for this success at public school. The District thanks parents and guardians for their important role in assuring their children arrive at school on time and ready to engage in Learning Without Limits.

Congratulations, Paradise Elementary! WE DID IT!!
The 2025 Kids Heart Challenge goal was $6,500 and our amazing students and families raised over $7,100 this year! Our families really went above and beyond with supporting the Kids Heart Challenge event for the American Heart Association. Paradise Elementary had over 75 students and their families help achieve our school-wide goal. Thank you to all that participated in our fund-raising effort this year.
Students who earned a jump rope, t-shirt, basketball and other thank you gifts can expect to receive their thank you gifts sometime before the Easter break. The gifts will be distributed as soon as I receive them.
Congratulations to Mireya J., Aniston M. and Landon N. for being the top 3 fundraisers for 2025! Third grade raised the most money with over $3,614 collected. Way to go 3rd grade! Fourth grade raised $1,565 for 2nd place.
During our Kids Heart Challenge Physical Education class, students had the opportunity to earn a Jump Rope Ninja Badge by continuously jumping for set times. Congratulations to our Jump Rope Ninja blackbelts who jumped for 3 minutes with less than 4 mistakes during that time! Way to go 4th grade students Avery P., Everly T., Kennedy K., Konnor K., Kendall K., Klaire B., Thanas K., and Ivy R.! Third grade students Braelyn C., Nolan W. and Jace F. also earned their blackbelt jumping award. Kennedy M. and Claire S. were the only 2 second grade students to achieve this honor! Congratulations to all of these students for your awesome jumping skills and cardiovascular endurance!
Paradise Elementary School has raised over $100,000 for the American Heart Association since it began participating in the Jump Rope for Heart/Kids Heart Challenge event in 2003! To celebrate this amazing accomplishment, the students who helped to raise money for this year’s event will help to DUCT TAPE MRS. BORTNER to the WALL in a school celebration assembly in March!
WE ARE ACCEPTING DUCT TAPE DONATIONS TO HELP MAKE THIS EVENT HAPPEN! IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DONATE A ROLL (OR 2) OF "CHEAP" DUCT TAPE TO PES, IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! A BOX FOR DONATIONS WILL BE PLACED IN THE SCHOOL LOBBY. PLEASE, NO "GORILLA TAPE" OR SUPER ADHESIVE TAPE! THE CHEAPER ROLLS FROM DISCOUNT STORES WOULD BE GREAT!

4th Grade: Arrive (music room) at 7:10 pm, Perform (stage) at 7:30 pm
What to wear: Dress nicely (similar to picture day)
We are proud of our student musicians, who have been working hard to prepare for their performance. As a member of the audience, you can help ensure a positive experience for performers and audience alike if you:
Listen to the music (give your undivided attention to the performers)
Avoid distracting noises (silence all devices)
Be courteous while taking pictures (remain seated & no flash photography during the performance)
Clear out of the performance space quickly (to make room for the next group of families)
Following your child’s performance, they can be picked up from the stage. To alleviate any parking congestion, we kindly ask that only families with students in multiple grades remain following each performance. Attendance for your child is voluntary, but highly encouraged! Because music is a performance-based study, the best way for students to demonstrate what they have learned is through a live concert. We look forward to seeing you and your family there!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Tackett
