On the rise: Energy/caffeine pouches
- Nicotine pouches can easily be concealed in these containers
- Caffeine pouches provide a buzz, and the user feels the caffeine after about 10 minutes.
- Each pouch has approximately 56 milligrams of caffeine, about a cup of coffee.
- There is no age restriction to buy these products.
- Prolonged exposure to these products may lead to similar oral ulcerations found with the use of smokeless tobacco.
- Caffeine alone induces a significant increase in blood pressure associated with a decrease in heart rate.
- Caffeine could potentially carry negative side effects, such as more heart palpitations and less sleep.
- Will stain teeth with prolonged use.
- Zyn is an oral pouch that contains nicotine powder and flavorings like mint, coffee and citrus. The pouches are the fastest-growing segment of the tobacco industry.
- Nicotine is addictive and can be very hard to quit.
- Consuming too much nicotine can cause nicotine poisoning, which will require medical attention.
- Nicotine reduces blood flow and oxygen levels and impairs healing in the gums, leading to cell death.
- Using nicotine pouches increases the user’s odds of gum disease, gum recession, leukoplakia, decay, bad breath, dry mouth, and bruxism.
- Regular use may result in severe gum disease, oral cancer, or leukoplakia.
- Nicotine use during adolescence can disrupt the formation of brain circuits that control attention, learning, and susceptibility to addiction.
Art Contest
