Message from Principal Dailey
Dear Hazelbrook Families,
There are several things to celebrate this week! Our OBOB team won the TTSD OBOB jamboree and compete at the state competition in a couple of weeks; Unity in Diversity night was a huge success with many beautiful performances, good food, and even better company; and our first group to go to outdoor school arrive back home today! Next week is full of music performances and a track meet.
As I mentioned last week, during our staff meeting on Wednesday, we talked about the increase in hate speech and bias incidents and practiced different ways we can interrupt, support, and educate those involved. At the end of the meeting we each vowed to take action. This word cloud represents our commitment to our students and to you.

Estimadas familias de Hazelbrook,
¡Hay varias cosas para celebrar esta semana! Nuestro equipo OBOB ganó el Jamboree TTSD OBOB y competirá en la competencia estatal en un par de semanas; La noche de Unidad en la Diversidad fue un gran éxito con muchas actuaciones hermosas, buena comida e incluso mejor compañía; ¡Y nuestro primer grupo en ir a la escuela al aire libre regresa a casa hoy! La próxima semana estará llena de actuaciones musicales y una competición de atletismo.
Como mencioné la semana pasada, durante nuestra reunión de personal del miércoles, hablamos sobre el aumento del discurso de odio y los incidentes de prejuicios y practicamos diferentes formas en que podemos interrumpir, apoyar y educar a los involucrados. Al final de la reunión, cada uno de nosotros prometió actuar. Esta nube de palabras representa nuestro compromiso con nuestros estudiantes y con usted.

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6th to May 10th. The PSO is doing a raffle for teachers at the end of the week. Please help us get items for the raffle. If you have any gifts you can bring them to the front office or order something off of the Amazon wish list or order something similar. Help us make this week special and show our support for all teachers do for our kids!

A fundraiser for the 8th Grade party
Cards are just $10 each, and half of the amount goes to support the 8th grade celebration. Cards entitle you to seven medium smoothies for $4 each and a free small smoothie!

Tualatin Together
Tualatin Together, in partnership with TTSD, encourages you to have conversations with your student about fentanyl. Fentanyl is a dangerous drug that is circulating in Washington County. A tiny amount of fentanyl — the size of two grains of salt — can be fatal.
Fentanyl is often disguised as “look alike” pills. Some teens buy or get pills from classmates and friends, or via social media connections. They might think these pills are drugs like Adderall, Percocet, Oxycodone, or Xanax. What they may get are fake pills containing fentanyl. Fentanyl can also be contained in street drugs such as methamphetamines, ecstasy and heroin.
Let your student know that any pill they don’t get from a pharmacy may contain fentanyl, which can be fatal. Even if the pill comes from a friend or classmate, it could have fentanyl in it.

If you are worried about your student or looking for resources, a good place to start is your student's school counselor.
You can find more resources on the TTSD website. The Tigard High School-Based Health Center (503-431-5775) is able to provide Alcohol and Drug Assessments for all TTSD students. Lastly, the Washington County Crisis & Consultation Line is available 24 hours a day at 503-291-9111.
Tualatin Together

Summer Learning Program:
We have begun accepting applications for our annual Summer Learning Program! In this program, the learning focuses on the Oregon State Benchmarks appropriate for each child in mathematics, language arts (reading, writing, and speaking), and any other subjects in which the student needs help. Our Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) candidates tutor/teach students according to their learning needs. There are usually 4-5 students per 2-3 MAT candidates.
This year’s program will run July 1-August 1, Monday-Thursday, 9:30am-11:30am, and we welcome students entering grades 2-11 in 2024-25. The cost of the program is $125, though scholarships are available.

Tualatin Public Library welcomes YOU to the Teen Room! The Teen Room is a space reserved for students in grades 6-12. (The only adults allowed to stay in the room are library staff.)
