School Safety Updates
PFSD continues to collaborate with the Post Falls Police Department to enhance safety and security protocols. In response to the joint Safety Forum held on July 18, district plans have been updated, a staff training from PFPD has been scheduled in late August, and new safety procedures will be practiced with students and staff.
Additionally, "safety dean" positions have been posted for each of the elementary schools, and safety measures requiring extra funding are being discussed as we plan for the spring 2023 supplemental levy. The district will send all parents a survey the last week of August to gather information regarding additional school safety measures.

Welcome new Zone 1 Board member!
With zone 1 trustee Guy McAninch's resignation from the board in June, the remaining board members conducted interviews of three applicants at a special meeting on Monday, July 25. At the end of this public meeting, Neil Uhrig was selected as the new zone 1 trustee and will be sworn in at the August board meeting. Mr. Uhrig is a Detective Sergeant with the Post Falls Police Department and has lived in the Post Falls community since 2006. Neil and his wife have two children attending schools within the district.
Mr. Uhrig ran for school board during the 2021 election demonstrating his dedication to serving on the PFSD school board. Neil states, "My primary driving factor in wanting to serve on the school board is to be involved with my children's education in a very unique way . . . By being on the School Board, I hope to provide the support and leadership that will make all kids in Post Falls successful." As a former PFHS SRO and Post Falls Police Department employee for sixteen years, Neil emphasized, "School safety is something that is near and dear to me." In his interview Neil clarified school safety not only means protecting students from violence on campus but also encompasses internet and social media safety and drug prevention.
The regular meetings of the Board of Trustees are held at 6:00pm at River City Middle School, 1505 N Fir, Post Falls, Idaho, the second Monday of each month. Board meetings are held in public for the purpose of conducting board business.
