Fort Osage High School Schedule Change Guidelines
Students are expected to plan their courses carefully with their advisor, counselor and parents so the classes they select will meet their educational needs. All students are given an opportunity to select courses at Enrollment Conferences. The schedule has been built to maintain class balance and to ensure they are staffed appropriately. Students requesting a schedule change must meet one of the below criteria and complete a “Schedule Change Request” form, which can be picked up from the Counseling Center.
Students may not drop classes after completing the enrollment process unless one of the following circumstances occurs:
Computer Error- If the course was incorrectly entered into the computer, the signed academic plan from enrollment conferences will serve as a reference for substituting the correct course.
Prerequisite Not Met- If the student has not met the prerequisite, an alternate course from the academic plan will be substituted.
Duplicate Credit- A student may not receive credit for the same course twice (with some exceptions, such as PE Courses).
Increased Rigor- A student requesting a change to a more difficult core area course will be accepted, provided space is available.
Graduation Requirement Not Met- You are a senior and you must take an alternate course for the purpose of meeting a graduation requirement that cannot be taken at another time.
Students who want to change out of a class once the semester has begun:
Students must get a “Schedule Change Request” form from the Counseling Center.
Teachers from the class you are dropping and the class you are adding as well as the parent must sign the class change form.
Students must make an appointment with their counselor once the form is complete to make the changes.
Change of Teacher:
Any request to change a teacher must go through an administrator.
- A+ Information - Participation in the A+ program is voluntary and is available to all students in grades 9-12. Participants who complete all A+ requirements, who meet all local deadlines by graduation, will be certified as an A+ graduate of Fort Osage High School and will be eligible to receive college tuition assistance for the completion of 105% of the hours required for the program enrolled in at participating Missouri public community college or vocational/technical institutions. New enrollment presentations for freshmen students will begin at the end of September. Freshman students will not be able to enroll until after these presentations. In order for students to enroll in the A+ Program, they must return the signed agreement form to the A+ Office (Room 401). Students have until they graduate to meet all of the requirements. You can find all of the requirements and more on the FOHS A+ website: https://sites.google.com/fortosage.net/aplus/home?authuser=0.
- Scholarship Information - Refer to the College and Career Resources website for scholarship information.
- FAFSA Info - The FAFSA application will be opening soon (October 1st)! Seniors and their families can begin preparing now by learning your social security number, collecting 2023 tax documents and W2s, and creating an FSA ID for the student and one parent. More information about financial aid can be found here.
- College Visits- If you will be visiting a college during the school day, you can pick up a College Visit Permission Form to excuse your absence from school. This excused absence will not affect A+ attendance. These forms are in the A+ Office (Room 401) and need to be returned to the high school front office after the college visit.
Refer back to the College and Career Resources website for information on
applications, resumes, military, ACT, financial aid, scholarships,
scheduling a meeting with Mrs. Ginger, and more.
