Hello Ottawa Families,

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer vacation! We are so excited for your otter to begin school with us. This is such an amazing journey that we are fortunate to be a part of with you. Here is a quick update and some helpful information for the beginning of the new school year.

CLASSROOM PLACEMENT

OTTAWA MEET THE TEACHER NIGHT

• Please join us on Tuesday, August 27th for our "Meet the Teacher" evening on our school playground from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
• Kindergarten teachers will be on our kindergarten playground and 1st-5th grade teachers will be on our main playground.
• Kona Ice will be onsite to give FREE flavored ice to all of our otters!

CVS SACC PROGRAM 2024-25

• SACC (School Age Child Care) is available before school starts from 6:45 a.m. and after school until 6:00 p.m. each day that school is in session.
  
• This past spring we communicated changes to our School Aged Child Care (SACC) program rates and schedules. These changes are necessary to ensure the long-term continuity of our program. Initially, families had the opportunity to make changes quarterly. However, after receiving feedback from our families that have varying job schedules, we decided it would be best to offer weekly schedule adjustments.
• Families are able to schedule their SACC time online that coincides with their work schedules. You will still be responsible for prepayment of service and commitment to the program but will now have the flexibility that working families need.
  
• Spaces are limited so we encourage parents to enroll when registration opens.

THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

• The first day of school for the 2024-2025 school year is Tuesday, September 3, 2024. It will be a HALF DAY of school. Our first bell to let students into the building is at 8:50 a.m. School begins at 8:55 a.m. and dismisses at 11:50 a.m. due to it being a half day.

• First bell and doors open at 8:50 a.m.
• School day begins at 8:55 a.m.
• School Dismissal is at 3:39 p.m.

***The normal school day times take place on our second day of school on Wednesday, September 4th as it will be a full day.

• If your child is unable to attend school, we ask that you leave a message on our building 24 hour attendance line. The phone number is (586) 723-6600 and select option 1 to report an absence. Please leave your student’s name, teacher, grade, date and reason for absence.
