A Message From Our PTO
Staff Appreciation Sept 16-19
Let's show our Coyote Creek teachers and staff how much we appreciate them! Sept 16-19th is parent/teacher conference week, which makes for long days for our staff. We like to treat them to some meals during this week to thank them for all their hard work and dedication! Please sign up to bring a food item to stock the staff lounge that week, or donate funds via My School Bucks! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0B48A5A62DA64-50910852-staff
The Travelin' Tom's Coffee Truck will also be making another appearance that week on Wednesday, September 18th from 7:30-9am. So stop by the Book Fair before school starts that morning, grab a donut at Breakfast & Books in the cafeteria, and top it all off with a coffee from the truck outside! You can also donate a coffee for a staff member - just say you'd like to sponsor a staff drink when you order from the truck! All of the staff will get a free drink that day, and your donation helps us cover that cost!
The Coyote Creek Scurry Run Update
Scurry Fundraiser Update
The Early Bird Deadline for our Coyote Creek Scurry is almost here! We have until Friday at midnight to reach $25K in online donations, in order for all grades to earn a Foam Party on Run Day! This is one of the highlights of the Scurry, so get those donations in - only $20 more per student would get us there!!!
As a reminder, this is by far our biggest fundraiser of the year, and it is our main opportunity to raise funds for the entire school year. There will not be a large fundraiser in the spring, so this is our chance! We are asking each student to set a fundraising goal of $100 so that we can reach our school goal of $47K. We will be using the funds raised for field trips for all grades, classroom furniture, and playground enhancements! Some field trip ideas that are being considered include: the Denver Zoo, Arvada Arts Center, Museum of Nature & Science, Golf Club, and CSU Spur! In addition, we will be upgrading a few sections of our playground so the kids have more areas to play - see the picture below!
Here are the leading classrooms by grade:
K: Vigil
1st: Blakley-Seiler
2nd: Cowan
3rd: Geary
4th: Dimon
5th: Ven
6th: Lehr
Run Day will be Wednesday, September 11th! Save the Date if you'd like to cheer your student on!
Run Day Schedule - September 11th:
8:45-9:15 4th and 5th grades
9:20-9:50 Kindie and 2nd grades

CCE - Website/App Student Opt Out
Dear Coyote Creek Families:
This letter is to inform you that Coyote Creek Elementary School will be using a variety of instructional websites and/or apps throughout the 2024-25 school year and your student(s) will be using some of them. These tools are not created by the district, however, each resource has been vetted by our teachers, evaluated according to district guidelines, and approved by the school administration because of the learning opportunities they provide. Each of these resources offers students the opportunity to share their knowledge and understanding of a topic in a variety of ways including photos, drawings, text, and recorded voice. These tools allow us to teach and reinforce reading skills, math skills, communication, critical thinking, collaboration and creativity, and much more.
These resources may include…
Boddle Learning, privacy policy
Storyboard That, privacy policy
Teach Your Monster to Read, privacy policy
Your student is not required to use the tools, as an alternative assignment will be provided; therefore your student’s grade is NOT dependent on these tools. The alternative assignment will be determined according to project, grade, and teacher on an as-needed basis.
To opt your child OUT of any of these resources being used throughout Coyote Creek Elementary School, please print this letter (click HERE), circle the title(s) to be opted out of, sign, and return to your student’s teacher. Please fill out one form for each student you wish to opt-out. By not returning this letter, you are agreeing to the use of these tools and/or account creation for your student(s).

New Math Enrichment Program for Coyote Creek Elementary!
Math Challenge Program (MCP) is a free math enrichment program for elementary students consisting of a series of challenging and interesting math problems. It is an exciting and enriching
mathematical journey designed to ignite the problem-solving skills of elementary students. There
are 15 sets of math challenges throughout the school year; each set is published every other week
starting in mid-September and ending in May.
Throughout the challenges, the program covers problem solving strategies such as drawing a
picture or model, making an organized list, looking for a pattern, working backward, etc.
Participating in the Math Challenge program is a breeze. The challenges will be available online for
your convenience at Math Challenge Program at Coyote Creek Elementary - Math Challenge
You can also find them on the display outside Ms. McFarland's office, room 207 in the 3rd grade
pod. You have the option to work on the challenges individually or team up with your classmates.
It is always more fun to tackle problems together!
Once you have solved the challenges and are feeling confident, it's time to submit your responses. On, or before, the assigned due date, place your completed work in the basket outside of Ms.
McFarland's office. Your submissions will be scored and given back to your teacher. To add a bit of
excitement, for each challenge, we will randomly select one winner per grade level from the
students who turn in their completed challenges. Listen for your name on the
announcements because you might be one of the lucky winners!
The program is completely free, and no sign-up is necessary. This is a great opportunity for families
to be involved and enjoy math through fun and engaging math problems. Remember, math isn't
confined to the classroom. Feel free to take the challenges home, discuss them with friends and
family, and explore different approaches to problem-solving. The most important thing is to enjoy
the process and HAVE FUN! Math can be thrilling when you approach it with curiosity and a sense
of adventure.
Schedules and problem-solving strategies are available at www.mathinaction.org.
The first math challenge will be available online on September 13 th . You have about a week to
complete the first math challenge. The due date is September 25 th (no later than 3:30 p.m.).
So, gear up, put on your thinking caps, and get ready for a math-tastic journey with the Math
Challenge program.
Let's create a community of enthusiastic math thinkers and discover the joy of
mathematics together!
