NBMS Magnet Lottery Information

New Bridge Middle School's academic focus is on STEM content and skills. These skills encompass science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. These subjects are not only fascinating but also essential for building a strong foundation for future learning and career possibilities.

We are pleased to inform you that student selection for enrollment in NBMS is based solely on a lottery pull that is conducted at the district office. This means that there are no interviews or special academic requirements to worry about. We believe that every student deserves an equal chance to explore and excel in Strategies That Engage Minds (STEM)

Entry into the New Bridge Middle, Clyde Erwin Elementary, Northwoods Elementary, and Onslow County Virtual School magnet school lotteries are available to enrollment-eligible children of all Onslow County residents or in accordance with the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children.

The Onslow County Schools Magnet School Lottery Application will be available beginning February 24, 2025, until March 14, 2025. Lottery selections will take place on March 21, 2025.

Applicants will be notified of their status via email as well as through their dashboard.

• February 10, 2025 - Magnet Education Opportunity EXPO @ Regional Skills Center 4:30-6:30 pm
• February 24, 2025 - Application Portal Opens
• March 14, 2025 - Application Window Closes
• March 21, 2025 - Lottery Selection
• March: TBA - Entrants notified of results via email
• March: TBA - Offer response due

At New Bridge Middle School (NBMS), there is a focus on STEM content and skills. STEM emphasizes science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.

*Currently NBMS is in the process of seeking STEM School of Distinction Certification through the North Carolina Department of Instruction. We are currently in the third year of a three year process.
