March 7th-No School Professional Development
March 10th-14th-SPRING BREAK (No School)
Reminder: No Cell Phones in School
We have seen an uptick of students with cell phones. We are graciously asking parents and guardians for their support on keeping cell phones & smart watches at home. If a child brings
their cell phone/smart watch to school, they will be asked to give it to the teacher for the remainder of the day. If a student has their phone/smart watch and refuses to give it to the teacher for the rest of the day, administration will work with that student and family. Cell phones/smart watches in school lead to increased disruptions to learning, anxiety, cyberbullying, and decreased academic performance. Please reference this link about the impact of cell phone and technology addiction on children and teens.
How is your student sleeping?
We know that sleep is important but just how important is it? According to Dr. Andrew Huberman, βSleep is the best immune booster, stress reliever, and emotional stabilizer available.β Are your students getting enough good quality sleep each night? The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that 3-5 year olds get 10-13 hours of sleep per night, 6-13 year olds to get 9-11 hours per night, and 14-17 year olds to get 9-10 hours per night. The key to better sleep is to set children up for success by creating a calming environment and avoiding stimulating activities before bed. With the start of Daylight Savings, now is a great time to work on your familyβs sleep hygiene!
Here are 3 quick tips:
Have your student go to bed and wake up at the same time each day, even on non-school days.
Develop a relaxing pre-bed routine to make it easier to fall asleep quickly.
Turn off and put away electronic devices like TVs, tablets, and phones 60 minutes before bed and keep screens and electronics out of bedrooms

District Student Survey
Student Social Emotional Learning & Equity Survey
As part of our commitment to provide Excellence, Innovation, and Equity in All We Do, Roseville Area Schools wants to hear from our students about their experience in our schools. During the weeks of March 17 and March 24 we will be conducting a social emotional and equity survey for students in grades 5-12.
Questions on the survey are about many topics relating to studentβs experiences in school and their social emotional awareness and well-being. The data from the survey will help our district improve the overall school experience for our students.
This annual survey is voluntary and students may decline to take any part of the survey or the whole survey. Students taking the survey will remain anonymous; however, we will gather some student information to disaggregate the data by race, gender, grade level, and school. Please feel free to review the survey questions in the links below and complete the Opt Out Form by Friday, March 7 if you choose to have your student opt out of the survey.
