Important Reminders!
- Tuesday, November 5th is the last day of Quarter 1. Quarter 1 report cards will be sent home to parents via BrightArrow on Tuesday, November 12th. Students will receive a hard copy of their schedule on Wednesday, November 6th as they will rotate to a new exploratory class (Tech. Ed., Health, Art, or Spanish) at the start of the quarter.
- There is no school for students on November 27, 28, and 29 for Thanksgiving break.
- Students participating in sports and extra-curricular activities such as after school clubs are expected to maintain grades of at least passing or higher, and are expected to demonstrate safe, respectful, and responsible behavior. Not meeting these expectations can limit students' ability to participate. Students who have failing grades on the quarter 1 report card will be able to practice, but not compete, until their grade is brought up to a passing grade.
- JMS Counts is an expectation for students who receive a failing grade for a quarter. We will reach out to families individually with more specific information about JMS Counts after the quarter 1 grades are finalized.
Reminder to VOTE on November 5th, 2024
The School District of Jefferson has an Operational Referendum question on the November 5th ballot. The question will determine the District’s ability to exceed its state-imposed revenue limit by $1.4 million per year over the next four years. The funding provided through the proposed referendum would help the district avoid significant cuts to programs, services, and staffing. We encourage you to learn more by viewing the school district website or reaching out to Dr. Urness with any questions you may have. You can contact: referendum@sdoj.org or call 920-675-1013
The last Coffee With Charlie is on November 1, 2024: 7:15 am at 4 Sisters Family Restaurant- 149 Collins Rd., Jefferson
6th Grade Field Trip
6th grade students are going on a field trip to the Milwaukee Admirals Education game on November 13th. Permission slips and additional information regarding this field trip will be sent home on Monday, November 4th.
JMS is very excited to once again offer our annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Monday, November 11th! On Veterans Day, the staff and students of JMS would like to honor veterans at a ceremony in our gymnasium. We are asking JMS students to invite family members and friends who are veterans to join us at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 11th.
Veterans from VFW Post 3589 and the American Legion will be joining us. In addition, we would like to honor veterans our students invite. Please write the name and military branch of the veteran your student has invited to be honored below. If you would like to recognize multiple veterans, a separate form needs to be filled out for each one.
Please submit this form no later than Monday, November 4th.
The JMS Student Council is proud to announce our Fall Dance, which will happen on Friday, November 15th from 6-8 pm. Students who attend the dance are expected to stay for the duration of the dance. The dance is open to all JMS students, 6th-8th grade, and is open only to JMS students. Tickets will be available for purchase during the week of the 11th at lunches, or can be purchased at the door. Student Council will also be sponsoring a themed dress up day each day that week, with Friday and the dance being a fall/western theme.
Additionally, any parents interested in helping chaperone the dance, we would love to have you. If you're interested, please complete the form below:
Southern Lakes Anthology (SLA)
The Southern Lakes Anthology Creative Writing and Art Contest is sponsored each year by The Southern Lakes Advanced Learner Network. Students in grades 3-8 have the opportunity to enter poetry, prose, illustrated writing, cartoon, or art based upon a specific theme. From these entries, the best student works from grades 3-8 are selected to represent Jefferson at the regional competition held in January, so a properly formatted, quality piece is key to selection. Students who are winners at the regional level are invited to a reception at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in May where they receive their own copy of the anthology as featured writers or artists. Each year, Jefferson has several pieces of student work that are published, and we would love to see that continue!
JMS PTO would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jersey Mike’s Johnson Creek for our October Dine Night out! Thank you for hosting and sharing this opportunity with us. We truly appreciate it. Thank you to ALL families who attended and helped support the PTO. This helps PTO fulfill requests made during the school year. November dine night out is on 11/21/24 at Hering’s Towne Inn, mark those calendars!
Shout out to Jamie Orval and Leah Mindemann for all their efforts with our Butter Braids and Milwaukee Pretzel Company fundraisers. Thank you students and families for all your support during these fundraisers. PTO will be hosting an all school ice cream party in the coming months to say thank you and prizes will be rewarded in the next few weeks. Thank you ALL volunteers for helping with the distribution day. Having help makes this run smoothly and is a joint effort, it’s much appreciated.
Thank you Leah Hernandez and all volunteers who helped with our Fall Scholastic Book Fair. We are so thankful that we are able to have this open during the day for students and staff members. Without the volunteers, this wouldn’t be possible. Enjoy your purchases.
