Summer Orientation Dates
- 7th Grade = Monday, July 28th 2:00-6:30
- 8th Grade = Tuesday, July 29th 2:00-6:30
- This is open house style, so come when it works for you. More information to come later.
First Day of School for 25-26 School Year
- 7th Grade only = Thursday, August 7th 8:00-12:00
- 8th Grade = Friday, August 8th 8:00-3:15 (both grades attend)
Student iPads and Fines
Students will recieve new iPads in August. It is extremely important that fines get paid before the start of the school year. Fines will follow the student to the next year and the high school. You can pay for these fines on line through MySchoolBucks or you can bring cash or check into the main office over the summer. If you need to set up a payment plan, please contact your student's dean.
Important Information from the Health Office
Health Information for 25-26 School Year:
- Exam forms, Emergency Action Plans, Vaccine records and other needed documentation can be emailed to Sarah Ocken (Ocken.Sarah@westside66.net) or faxed to WMS 402-390-8652 as you get them completed for next school year.
- Emergency Action Plans (Asthma, Allergy, Seizures) are valid for a full calendar year. Please provide updated plans to the Health Office when available.
- Medication Authorizations for medication at school should be submitted at the start of every school year if needed.
- If your student is going to be a 9th grader, please send this information to WHS.
School and Sports Physicals
- Per Nebraska State Law, All incoming 7th graders must have a physical before the first day of school. They also must be up to date on their immunizations.
- School Physical will count for a sports physical for 7th graders, but it must be dated after May 1, 2025.
- 8th Graders who are going to participate in sports must have a physical dated after May 1, 2025
Attendance Information for 25-26 School Year
Attendance is a huge key to Success at Westside Middle School
The goal is to miss less than 9 days per year of school.
Several layers of support:
5 days student meeting with homeroom teacher
10 days student meeting with Counselor
15 days student meeting with parent and dean
20 days report to County Attorney
Starting the 25-26 school year: After 10 days of absence, all absences will be unexcused unless accompanied by a doctor's note.
*Deans and counselors will work with families who have special circumstances.*

Please call the weather line if you have any questions about games being canceled due to bad weather. We will generally not cancel the full day of games because of weather but just cancel individual games because of lightning or rain. WMS Summer Show Choir Camp
Jadin Booth Camp
Jadin Booth class of 2020 and Westside all time leading scorer will be holding his 4th annual Jadin Booth Elite Camp this June 9th-11th. The cost is $125 and will be held at Westside middle school. This camp is for 3rd-8th graders boys and girls. The kids will enhance their basketball skills from professional and college players as well as learning Jadins keys to life and hoops.
