Just a reminder: Please help your child get to school each day and be on time. We have important things happening in class starting with the very first thing. Often they are things students don’t want to miss. We understand students might be sick and need to stay home. However, if they are healthy, please make every effort to get them to school.
Please remember, you need to call the attendance line if your child will miss a day of school:

Attendance Letters Information
The State of Illinois defines Chronic Absenteeism as missing 10% or more of a school year, regardless of the reason for the absence. As of Jan. 29, we had 100 days of school completed, missing ten days would represent 10% of the school year. Attendance letters are part of the Unit 5 District Attendance Procedures and are sent for excused and unexcused absences. I understand that some or all of student absences may have occurred due to illness.
We appreciate everyone following the Unit 5 guidelines, which recommend keeping students home if they have vomited, have a fever, or have diarrhea, even if you can't produce a doctor's note. When we review attendance for truancy purposes, we consider any instances of illness that a parent called in, students who were sent home due to sickness and required to stay home until symptoms have stopped for 24 hours, and any doctor's notes we have received. Please know that children must attend school consistently when they are not ill.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding attendance letters, please don't hesitate to contact me at your convenience. We appreciate your continued support in ensuring your child's success and look forward to partnering with you to provide the best educational experience possible.
