SCHOOL NEWS
LIFETOUCH
Picture retake day is
Thursday, November 7.
------------------
Kids from all grade levels during the school year come to the nurse for a change of clothing. This is due to various reasons such as falling in mud, bathroom accidents, spilled milk or food in the cafeteria, & nosebleeds.
We know parents are sometimes tied up & can't make it to school quickly, so we loan out clothes when possible. We ask that the borrowed clothes are washed & returned to the clinic so we can continue to help your children through out the school year.
The clinic is always welcoming of clothing donations of gently used shirts, pants and shorts.
Currently the clinic needs boys and girls clothing of all
sizes (ages K-4); especially girls.
PTO NEWS & NOTES
PTO PRESIDENT’S REPORT
It has been wonderful seeing everyone and meeting so many new families the past few weeks! We are off to a great school year at Montgomery Elementary and we are excited about all the exciting things to come.
Directory Spot information was sent out this week for all families that opted in through final forms! Please take the time to correct any information if needed and remember that after October 10th ONLY PTO members will have access to the Directory Spot App! If you have any questions please contact Alicia Murphy at mtptovp1@sycamoreschools.org
Dads, Grandfathers, Uncles, and Friends mark your calendars! Donut Fun With Your #1 is October 15th and 16th before school!
Our next General Meeting on Wednesday, October 23rd at 9:30am so please mark your calendars! We will be hearing from Lori Drasnin, from Sycamore Bridges and our new school therapist, Karen Celesti.
Have questions before then please contact me, Kristy Felss, at mtpto@sycamoreschools.org.
Has your child come home talking about about Camp Happy Harmony (4th grade), 43 Old Cemetery Lane (3rd grade), or maybe Sir Sidney's Circus (1st and 2nd grade)? If so, they are as excited as we are to be hosting author Kate Klise and her illustrator sister, Sarah Klise, at Montgomery Elementary in March this year!
We wanted to share an exciting opportunity that would be a great springboard for families...the Shrine Circus is coming to town! One of the Klise sister's series is entitled "The Three Ring Rascals". The setting for this series is a circus! If you would like for your child to experience a circus firsthand, look for a coupon coming home soon. The Shrine Circus will be in Northern Kentucky from October 18-20th. Be sure to send pictures to Mrs. Messer (messert@sycamoreschools.org) so we can create a display of our student's circus fun!
IF YOU HAVE A NEED
PTO FUNDS CAN HELP
The Montgomery PTO Special Requests Committee is accepting requests from teachers, staff and parents to fund any needs you might have for speakers, supplies, seminars, books or equipment/technology. Please complete the google form by Wednesday, October 23rd.
https://tinyurl.com/SpecialRequestsF19
Guidelines and Criteria:
Parents, teachers and staff members may make requests.
Requests will be presented to the Committee for review and discussion.
The person submitting an approved request will be promptly notified of the approval and the funds will be provided promptly after receipts or other documentation are forwarded to the PTO Treasurer.
Requests that are not approved can be resubmitted for the next Special Requests meeting.
The Committee will meet twice each school year, once in the fall and again in the spring.
Must be a member of the PTO
-- A request should meet at least one of the following criteria:
-- It is beneficial to a majority of students
-- It is for an educational speaker, presentation or assembly located either at the school or elsewhere
-- It will improve the learning environment
-- It is for an extracurricular activity
Very Important!!! Requests should be fully researched and include quotes, price comparisons, accurate costs, information about whether or not the district and/or the school already has the item, book or program, etc.
Please note the following request requirements:
Shipping: Unless there is a reason as to why an exact cost is not available, we need to have the exact cost of the item, including shipping. As fuel costs rise, the shipping costs are becoming more significant. Please remember that schools do not pay sales tax and we can not reimburse for sales tax. If you need a tax exempt form, they are available in the office.
Technology and Furniture: Please obtain prior approval from the Technology Department or Principal to ensure that the request is in compliance with school/district standards.
Please consider using Teacher Lists for smaller requests. (www.TeacherLists.com)
Feel free to contact Christa Lloyd at christarlloyd@hotmail.com with any questions or concerns.
***In honor of our wonderful friend, Laura Whitmer, and her many years of dedication to our PTO, a portion of the special request funds will be used to fulfill a request in Laura's name.
If you would like to submit an idea for this special fund, please reference
the" Laura Whitmer Memorial Fund" on your Special Request submission.***

September launched our #speakupAVES campaign. Our commitment to supporting student, staff, and community mental health is strong. Our Sycamore High School students will honor their commitment to start the conversation and break down the stigma surrounding mental health on Saturday, October 5. Their team participation in the 1N5 Warrior Run as team SycamoresAVES has raised over $1000 to support mental health education in Sycamore Schools. There is still time to show your support by joining our team by registering HERE, or to sponsor the team HERE. As we said, our conversation is just getting started. We encourage you to follow us on twitter @speakupAVES to remain connected to our initiatives, activities, and information about mental health in our community.
The commitment to mental health and wellness is a national topic of conversation. Our city is engaged in that conversation and is bringing an event designed to support mental health and wellness to Cincinnati. On October 11-13 Kroger will sponsor the Wellness Your Way festival at the Duke Energy Center.
