LaCoste Elementary Newsletter
2023-2024 School Year/Week of May 13th - 17th
Principal's Note
Dear LaCoste Families,
As we approach the final days of an incredible school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the amazing journey we've shared together. We have just 8 days left, and it has truly been a fantastic year filled with learning, growth, and memorable experiences. Your support and involvement have made all the difference.
Attendance continues to be crucial as we wrap up the school year. Every day counts, and we want to ensure that our students make the most of these last days. Please encourage your child to be present and engaged.
We are excited about our upcoming awards and end-of-year ceremonies, which are wonderful opportunities to celebrate our students' hard work and achievements. Our 5th grade promotion ceremony details have been sent out to families. We look forward to honoring our students as they transition to the next chapter of their educational journey.
As we finish the year, let's remind our students to stay safe, be respectful, and act responsibly. These values are the foundation of our school community, and they will help us finish the year strong.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Let's make these last days the best ones yet!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Campbell

PTO Board Nominations
LCE PTO is counting down to summer break and that means it’s almost time for Executive Board Elections! We would LOVE to have you join us next year! Please take a look at the position descriptions below. If any of them interest you then please email your name, the position you’re nominating yourself for, and a 2-3 sentence bio to lacostepto@gmail.com.
Students of the Week
1st Grader - Kellyn Wiemers
We are so lucky to have Kellyn in our class. She is respectful, helpful and a friend to all. She demonstrates courage and is always willing to try something new. We love reading and listening to her creative writing stories, which are absolutely amazing!
4th Grader - Codi Broekove
She is an excellent student, always cheerful and helpful to all peers. A wonderful leader.
Reader of the Week
Our rock star readers, who go above and beyond their reading goals, could be “Caught Reading” by our staff or even their families! Every week, we’re picking a winner at random, and their name will be announced during morning announcements.
Anson Boatright! Anson was caught by Ms.Boatright. Anson created a tracker to help him finish Percy Jackson's Lightning Thief and utilized it to finish his book 3 days earlier than his goal!!
Way to be a rock star reader Anson!
Remember LaCoste Panthers, you can all be rock star readers when you get “Caught Reading”!

Counselor's Corner
May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
You can help by checking in with your child after school. It is common for children to answer automatically with “fine” when asked how their day was. Try asking “What was something good about today?,” “What was a challenge from today?”
As always the counseling team is available should you ever have concerns or questions.
Community First Food Pantry
LCE is hosting a community Food Pantry. It is located in the front of the school and is accessible 24/7. Inventory is checked weekly to ensure there are items available.
It is accessible to families in need. If you are in great need, please contact the counseling department and we can provide additional resources.
Upcoming Webinars for Military Families
Anchored4Life
Meet our Team Members: Olivia R., Addison H., Edward, Addison V., Olivia K., Natalia, Emily, and Brice!
Anchored4Life is a military funded peer-to-peer club focused on change and resiliency. Our student team will be providing monthly activities to peers, new student tours, create character development quotes, and initiate a service project.
Our team has kits to support our students and families for deployment, reunification, welcome (new students), and departure. We also have divorce and grief kits our advisors can give out. Please reach out to the program advisors, Mrs. Rakowitz and Mrs. Frank to inquire. Kits are available for ALL our students, not just military families!

Coach's Corner
Regarding the Elementary Track Meet for 4th and 5th Grade. This is not a class event or a whole Grade level event. Only 18 Girls and 18 Boys for 4th and 5th Grade will represent LaCoste. I received permission slips back this week, I will take the first 18 I receive back for the girls and boys for 4th and 5th Grade and they will represent LaCoste. As the information and permission slip stated, if your child is not passing and or had a behavioral referral in the past 2 months. They are not eligible to represent LaCoste at the Track Meet, even if they returned their permission slip and are within the first 18 for their Grade level. You will receive a letter / form on Monday May 20th informing you that your child will represent LaCoste and it will have further information. I will go over the returned permission slips to confirm eligibility. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Coach Camacho.
If your child / children are not able to participate in PE for that rotation day. Please provide a note for your child / children to bring to PE. Your help with this would greatly be appreciated. Also when your child / children are scheduled for PE please make sure they are wearing the proper footwear for PE. Boots, dress shoes, sandals, crocs are not the appropriate footwear for PE. Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Coach Camacho.
