Saying Goodbye to a Great School Year!
Hansen Families,
I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for a wonderful first year at Hansen. For any first-year Principal in a new building - let alone a first-time principal, the learning comes mainly from mistakes, so in the spirit of the Growth Mindset, I'm proud to say I learned a lot of valuable lessons this year! However, with the support of Superintendent Folan, Asst. Superintendent Shannon, Asst. Principal Kelly Fahey, our wonderful staff, Hansen families and countless others, I was able to experience some wonderful moments at Hansen that I will treasure forever.
The sense of team-first support for each other that I sensed here in my interview process from all stake-holders, was on full display this year, and taking our cue from our students, we all learned, worked hard and grew closer together!
Families, I hope you head into summer with a proud feeling of accomplishment on what was a very successful school year for our students - you've earned that, without a doubt, as student success starts at home! Our first day of school for 1st Grade - 5th Grade is Aug. 28th. Kindergarteners first day is Sept. 3rd. Beyond that, I hope you get some rest, relaxation, family / friend time, fun and self-care this summer, as well. I thank you so much again for a great first year at Hansen, and have a wonderful summer break, everyone!
With gratitude and Hansen pride,
Paul McKnight

Important - NEW School Start Time Next Year
Save the Dates - **Attention parents - next year Hansen Elementary School's start / end times will shift to 8:40 a.m. and 2:55 p.m. Our first day of school for grades 1-5 will be on August 28th (promptly at 8:40 a.m., and the first day for Kindergarteners is on Sept. 3rd (also at 8:40 a.m.). If you shoot for having them to their bus stop on time every day, and/or dropped off at 8:20 a.m., when doors open, they will never face the stress of being late and learn the value of being on time.
Attached is next year's school calendar for you, below:

New Nursing Newsletter!
The nurses at the 3 elementary schools, Hansen, Kennedy and Luce, are collaborating and developing a newsletter to provide access to information and resources to our families. We want to provide consistent and district wide information that our elementary school families will find helpful and hopefully open up additional lines of communication with you and your respective school nurse and health office. We would appreciate any feedback you can provide and are always looking for topics and areas you would like more information about. Please feel free to reach out to your school nurse as needed. Thank you!
