Cascadia Tech News
June 2024
From Our Director
Welcome to the end of a great school year. Our students have earned over a thousand industry certifications and hundreds of college credits, earned over $803,000 in scholarships, and are graduating college and career-ready. We are so proud of the hard work these students have accomplished this year and look forward to hearing from them about college and/or the workplace next year. Congratulations to all 2024 graduates.
Summer School starts Monday, June 24. We have over 650 students from SW Washington participating in FREE job skills training. Our Summer School courses offer introductory training for students entering Cascadia Tech programs in the fall as well as introductions to CTE for future students to explore different career options.
Have a great summer. We will see our incoming and returning students on August 27.
We are doing great things!

Criminal Justice Awards Ceremony
Each year Criminal Justice has a ceremony to recognize the accomplishments of CJ students throughout the year. During the ceremony, our current leadership removes their pins and places them on the students that will be taking their place as our new leadership team. The new leadership takes over leading the classroom and organizing our many community service events. Congratulations to the incoming 2nd year Criminal Justice students!
Fashion Show
The Fashion Show was a huge success with over 400 in attendance, 53 students with some additional models. Family, friends, and colleagues came to celebrate our culminating project and celebrate our students' hard work. A small team with the help of Ms. Brown from the Hospitality & Tourism program helped with our event planning including creating invitations, program cover and formatting, music, setting up, refreshments, and food for after the show.
All first-year students made at minimum 1 garment, but most made multiple garments or accessories that they wore and modeled on the runway. Our second-year students made a mini collection with the equivalent of a minimum of 6 garments which translated into 2-4 whole looks that were modeled by other students and friends.

Women in Aviation
In most aviation occupations, women make up less than 20% of the workforce—and for the last 60 years, the introduction of women into the aviation and aerospace industry has been largely dormant. The aviation industry needs more women to pursue aviation careers to access the breadth of talent needed to meet our current—and growing—workforce challenges. Attracting, retaining, and advancing women in aviation is critical to the aviation industry’s safety, sustainability, profitability, and ability to innovate.
