Emerson Update 02/14/25
Happy Valentines Day (34 Days Until Spring!!!)
EMERSON MIDDLE SCHOOL MISSION
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE 02/14/25
Hello Emerson Families,
Today is Valentine's Day! It's a day that celebrates love and relationships, and we know that navigating those feelings can be a tricky thing for our students at this stage in their lives. We want all of our students to know how much they mean to us. Each and every one of them brings something special to Emerson, and we are so fortunate to be a part of that journey. We are all here to support them as them learn and grow, both academically and emotionally.
February is certainly keeping us on our toes! Between the ice and snow days, it's been an interesting month, to say the least. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these unexpected schedule changes. It seems winter isn't quite ready to release its grip just yet, but the good news is that March is just around the corner, bringing with it the promise of spring!
Even with the wintery weather, we're hard at work here at Emerson. We've officially kicked off the scheduling season, which always seems to sneak up on us! All of our 8th grade students have received instructions on how to enter their course selections in Xello. We're excited to begin meeting with our current 7th grade students in March to discuss their options for next year. It's amazing how quickly we start preparing for the fall!
Next week is another shortened week with the holiday on Monday, but our athletes will be busy! Our basketball teams and wrestlers will be competing in our home gym, so come on out and show your support if you can!
As always, thank you for your continued partnership. We value your involvement and support in making Emerson a great place for our students to learn and grow.
Stay Warm and have a great weekend!
Bruce Rivera

Dear 8th Grade Families,
We'd like to gently remind our current 8th-grade families that high school course schedules need to be submitted in Xello by Tuesday, February 18th.
For any 8th-grade student who was absent during this week's counseling presentation, please don't worry! Our counselors will be holding a make-up session later next week, and we will share the details soon.
Students received detailed information about Xello and the course selection process in class earlier this week. We encourage you to discuss these choices with your student and ensure you're both comfortable with their freshman year schedule.
To help guide and assist you and your student in the course selection process, we've attached a couple of helpful documents.

A few key things to note:
The Livonia Parent Advisory Committee (LPAC) seeks parent representation from each Livonia Special Education Program. Parent representative volunteers have a child/children with a disability(ies). The LPAC also provides advisory input on matters regarding improvement of Special Education services within our school district.
Our Facebook page shares information of interest to our families and students.
Here, you will find electronic flyers for programs and events geared toward kids!
We hope that you enjoy the many offerings from around our great community!
If you have a program that you'd like to advertise, please email your flyer to Stacy Jenkins at sjenkins3@livoniapublicschools.org for approval. We follow a set of guidelines for approval and are only able to accept flyers for non-profit organizations that benefit our local children.

Emerson Clubs
Emerson Middle School has several clubs where students can connect with their peers, learn a new skill, or simply hang out with friends. We've had a volleyball club, robotics club, GSA club, walking club, Pokemon club and homework club. We would love to offer something for everyone! Our club list is always growing, and we're always open to new ideas. If your student has a dream club in mind or if you'd like to be an awesome advisor, let us know! Joining a club is a great way to make new friends, learn new skills, and have a blast!
