Heat Guidelines with Recess and Athletics
The safety of our students, faculty, staff, and volunteers is our top priority. As we continue to experience excessive heat conditions throughout the greater Houston area, which unfortunately, has not allowed for afternoon outdoor sports practices this week. These unfavorable heat conditions are projected to continue at least through the beginning of next week. The Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops Education Department (TCCB ED) prohibits outdoor activities, including recess for elementary/middle schools when the temperature heat index is higher than 100 and limits the activities to 15 minutes when the temperature heat index ranges from 95 to 99.
On days that the temperature heat index is 100 or above, outdoor practices are not to take place during that time.

What is "Smart Families"?
We are excited for the start of the new school year and are equally excited to bring Smart Families to our school. We know the negative impacts of smartphones and social media have on the wellbeing of our students and family life. It is time we started working together to establish new norms in our
community that align with our Catholic beliefs.
Smart Families will be hosting a number of educational events for families and the children in our community during the school year. This is a priority for our school and expect all families to participate.
To learn more about Smart Families, please see the attachment and visit www.Smart-Families.org.
