At Saffron, we like to focus on creating a balance between online and offline lives. This includes things like time limits for online activities and encouraging offline hobbies or activities. It also includes thinking about your child's development, what boundaries are in place online, who they are talking to, what they are viewing/playing, how they are being treated online and being aware of their mood and energy offline. Perhaps most importantly, having open communication with your youth ensures that if something does go wrong online, they know that you are someone they can go to for help.

School Council Meeting

On January 18, 2022, at @ 7:00 pm, we will host a virtual school council meeting through Zoom. Parents and guardians play an important role in student success. School councils allow parents to participate in decisions that impact student learning. By contributing knowledge, perspective, and ideas at school council meetings, parents actively contribute to the success of the school community.

Basketball season is well underway. Just like our volleyball season, home games and tournaments will be attended only by student-athletes, coaches, and officials. Spectators will be welcomed by Livestream on our school's YouTube channel. We appreciate your support in helping ensure students can continue to safely participate in sport and other activities. The link to the games will be posted to our school's website on the day of the event. Please share the school's link with all your friends and family.

The "Cougar Code" is the Ecole Charlie Killam School Behavior Matrix. It is a guiding document that is meant to be a set of expectations for students while they are at school. Each day, during morning announcements, a different part of the Cougar Code is referenced. Staff refers back to the Cougar Code when working with students, praising their good deeds through Cougar Sightings, and also when discussing where they may have moved away from the expected behavior while at school.

"In Our House, we respect ourselves by being prepared to learn"

This can mean many different things for many different students. One part of this is being physically prepared for learning by having all the materials a student will need for that class ready when the teacher starts the lesson (textbook, binder, notes, pencil, etc.). This also means that students should enter the classroom being prepared mentally to learn. Students should be ready to listen to instruction and directions from teachers for that day's activities. Most importantly, students should enter with an open attitude, knowing that if they do their best every day, they will continue to grow.

Please make sure you send your child to school prepared for the outside weather. You can always check out the Weather Network for the most up-to-date weather information.
