Schedules Release!

- Monday, July 29th - - All families can access student schedules via ParentVue.

• NOTE: NEW students to the district (including incoming freshmen), will NOT be able to see their schedule on StudentVue until the 1st day of school!
• HOWEVER - ParentVue for parents/guardians of ALL students, will display schedules beginning on July 29th.
• FINALLY - Please note that changes to your student’s schedule and lunch period MAY occur between July 29th and the start of school. We advise that you double-check schedules one last time the Sunday before school begins (freshmen) and the Monday before school begins (upperclassmen).

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!

Whether you are new to our community or returning, we are genuinely excited to have you with us, and I'm grateful and excited to continue as the principal at Verrado High School. Our vision is to graciously serve the One Verrado Community, and equip students for the future. We cannot wait to begin another year. We also want to welcome Mr. Barry Cromer, who will join our administration team this year, serving as Athletic Director.

High School is a pivotal time in a student's life, providing them with an opportunity to develop their skills and discover their passions while also building lasting memories. It is a time to create opportunities for their future, even if they are still trying to discover what that means for them.

My ask of you as you come into the school year 2024-2025 is to stress the significance of a good start with your students. A great take-off often leads to a great landing. Whether your students is an incoming freshman, or a senior nearing graduation, the start of each school year is a great opportunity to build momentum and confidence. When the inevitable challenges of life come knocking, having a great head start and strong habits will help propel your students through those challenges to be better on the other side.

The recommended first day of school supply list is shown on the infographic below. Teachers will recommend specific course related supplies during the first week of school. Other optional supplies for the first day may include highlighters, folders, post it notes, and a pencil pouch.

Please remind returning students to bring in their charged laptops to school.

New students to the district will pick up their laptops on their first day of school.

BEGIN IN GYM @ 8:15

• All freshmen will report to the the Main Gym by 8:15am.
• Students will go through an abbreviated schedule of their classes starting with their advisory class.
• Students will take a tour of campus, take ID photos, and receive their Chromebooks.

OPTIONAL: NEW STUDENTS IN 10th-12th BEGINNING AT 12:00 pm

• After 12:00pm NEW students in grades 10-12 are welcome to come to campus for a tour and to pick up their Chromebooks.
• Please report to the front office, after 12:00 pm.

ALL STUDENTS REPORT TO 1ST HOUR AT 8:15 AM

• All Students can access their schedule in STUDENTVUE beginning in the afternoon of July 29th.

STEP 2 - - Have your ID on a lanyard and wear it, OR have the ID prepared to be presented. You will not be allowed in without it, once they are distributed.

Verrado High School and the Agua Fria Union High School District are committed to providing a safe and friendly learning environment for our students, staff and community. As a reminder, weapons detectors are placed at each entry point into the campus. All students and campus visitors must pass through the weapons detectors. The detectors are mobile and will also be utilized for entry into the school for things such as theater performances or sporting events.

Please use the East side of campus, and enter the far north side of the lot from Pioneer Drive. That will provide you ample drop-off space, once you enter the lot. You will follow the loop and exit back onto Pioneer Drive from the Southern Exit, back onto Pioneer. Please DO NOT, enter the Southern Exit.

We advise that you arrive with enough time to drop off your students, and have them be able to walk through campus and get to class before 8:15. Students will have the opportunity to enter campus, and eat breakfast starting at 7:45

2. PARENTS/GUARDIANS cannot complete the parking application, but may need to assist for legal documentation purposes.

4. Approval will be processed and charges will be applied.
5. You will be notified once your student is approved, and charges have been applied.
6. Pick up of passes can be completed at the school bookstore once approval has been met, and the fee ($50) has been assigned and paid
7. BE A GOOD NEIGHBOR! PLEASE DO NOT park across the street in the businesses (you could be towed at your own expense) or the surrounding neighborhoods! If you find yourself passing through in the neighborhoods, DO NOT LITTER, and DRIVE RESPECTFULLY!

We are a 1:1 campus. All students will be issued a Chromebook...

... to use throughout the duration of the school year. The Chromebook is to be used by your student for the sole purpose of accessing educationally appropriate materials, information, programs, and websites. The District will retain full ownership of all Chromebook, equipment, and software. Please review information regarding the technology program and student rights via the link below.

Families have the opportunity to purchase a Device Protection Plan through the district. It is recommended that parents purchase the Device Protection Plan to minimize any costs that may arise during the school year. Families who choose not to purchase the Device Protection Plan are 100% responsible for all repair and replacement costs. Details of the plan and how to purchase it are available online at www.aguafria.org/dpp.

Payment for the Device Protection Plan must be made by Friday, September 9th to be active for the 2024-2025 school year.

• Cell phones during instructional time are prohibited.

• Students may use their cell phones during lunch or during passing periods only.

• In the event a student uses their cell phone during instructional time without teacher permission may result in a discipline consequence.

NOTE: If you need to contact your student during school hours, please contact our attendance line in the event of an emergency.

Along with key academic coursework, mastering skills in high school can have a long-lasting impact on students' careers.

• Regular student attendance is proven to give the greatest opportunity for student success.

• If you need to call in an absence for your student (must be called in within 24 hours), please contact 623-932-7400 Extension 1 and leave your student’s name, ID number, date, and the reason for the absence and it will be processed as soon as possible.
• Attendance Appeals may be held when a student misses 10 or more classes in a particular course.
• An Attendance Appeal may result in the loss of credit for the student. Please refer to the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook and review the district policy regarding attendance and tardiness.
• Students who are late to any class during the day will be marked tardy. 5 tardies to a class will be the equivalent of 1 absence for the class during a potential credit review.
• 5 or more tardies to a class may lead to a disciplinary outcome.

Welcome to the start of the 2024-25 school year! The Counselors are excited for the year to begin and to serve our Viper families.

Upon our return from summer break, the Counselors will be correcting schedule errors such as, missing class periods, missing required academic courses, having duplicate courses, and balancing class sizes.

Schedules will be available July 29th via ParentVue & StudentVue. Please note that changes to your schedule may occur, between the 29th and the start of school.

On August 1st, a Change of Course Request form will be made available for students needing to request a change to their schedule. All requests will be reviewed before any changes are made, and students will receive notification of a decision via email. Submission of the form does not mean that a change will take place. The deadline to submit the form to the counseling center will be Friday, August 9th.
