PTSA Family Dance Night- December 12
This week, the PTSA is hosting a Family Dance Night in the Daniel Warren Auditorium for students, families and staff to show off their dance moves and come together as a community for a little bit of pre-holiday fun!
Students have been practicing the dances at the start or end of their Physical Education classes as well as during movement or brain breaks in their homeroom classes.
If you'd like to learn the dances yourself or if your child would like to show you their dancing feet, here is a link to the dances they will be participating in if they attend the event on December 12!
Coaches Desio & Iacovelli captured a few photos and videos from Physical Education classes that you can view here
Spotlight on Learning: Coding & Robotics
Fifth graders are receiving an introduction to robotics with Ms. Trotta as students completed some unplugged coding activities to get a better understanding of how programming a robot works. The task was to program "robotic" friend to put on a shoe or create a structure of cups.
Fourth graders completed their first BreakoutEDU by working together and strengthening their problem solving and critical thinking skills. The theme for their Breakout was related to coding.
Spotlight on Learning: Structures & Properties of Matter: Grade 5
Fifth grade scientists tested the property of thermal conductivity. The investigation allowed them to determine which substance had the highest thermal conductivity. The objects that were tested were copper, stainless steel, brass, aluminum, wood and plastic. They used established scientific data about each object to make predictions and test their theories.
The Third Grade Concert Rocked!
Last night the third graders took us all on a magical ride to Toyland! They even had a special guest from their past, Ms. Clarke, remind them about how they learned to sing and write songs back at DW! Once again a huge thank you to our third grade teacher team, Mr. Galgano and everyone who played a part in making last night’s musical adventure such an amazing experience!

PTSA Author Visit with Marc Tyler Nobleman
Students in all grades met with author Marc Tyler Nobleman as he shared his experience as a researcher and writer. This enrichment experience for students was graciously sponsored by the PTSA. We are always grateful of their contributions, expertise and generosity in supporting extending learning in Rye Neck.
