A Message from Principal Wade
It is hard to believe that we are finishing up week #6 of school! and what an amazing 6 weeks it has been! The school building is abuzz with activity all day long. I am thankful to witness the smiles and laughter and learning that is happening every day in so many spaces ~ from the classrooms to the Media Center to the Cafeteria to the Playground ~ scholars are learning and leaning into the CARES (Cooperation, Assertion, Responsibility, Empathy, Self-Control) expectations. Our walls are filled with Art and Poetry and Writing ~ all created by the scholars of EDW ~ identifying and demonstrating the gifts and strengths and brilliance that each of the scholars brings with them each day. I am definitely looking forward to the year! Thank you for sharing your beautiful children with us every day!
As we move into next week, a reminder that there is no school on

Thursday, October 17
Friday, October 18
Enjoy the days and the break ~ because as Winter season approaches, the air will turn colder and the sun will set earlier in the evening and we may wish for a few more moments of Summer or Fall.
Rest, Relax, Reset ~ And most importantly ~ enjoy the moments and memories~

Grade 5 & 6 Cross Country Meet
Please feel free to stop by and cheer on your child.
Visitor Policy
All visitors must enter through the Main Door and check in at the Front Office. You will be asked to sign in and get a visitor's lanyard before you are permitted to go to your destination.
Families dropping scholars off in the morning or dropping any forgotten items off for their scholar will not be permitted to bring it to the classroom. Items will be left in the main office and delivered later by a staff member or picked up by the scholar.
For safety and security reasons, it is important that the office staff knows who is entering the building.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Friendship Connection
October 24th, 2024 at Emmet D. Williams Elementary School
Every Fall, we partner with the Afterschool Alliance to put on an event highlighting and honoring (before and) after school programs.
This annual celebration is called Lights On.
Join thousands of communities in celebrating and rallying for after-school programs as the After-school Alliance organizes the 25th annual Lights On After-school! This nationwide event, taking place in October of 2024, calls attention to the importance of after-school programs and the resources required to keep the lights on and the doors open, especially as programs step up to help students, families, and communities in the pandemic. EDW Friendship Connection is proud to be a Lights On After-school partner. Too many children—25 million—are missing out on after-school opportunities. Participate in Lights On After-school and help call attention to this important issue. Lights On After-school is a project of the After-school Alliance, a nonprofit public awareness and advocacy organization working to ensure that all children and youth have access to quality after-school programs.
Come join us for lantern making, mural painting and refreshments on October 24th from 4:30-6pm!
From the Art Department
Join the City of Little Canada and the Carpenter Nature Center for Animals of the St. Croix on Friday, October 18, at 2:00 PM (Spooner Park Lower Shelter.) The Carpenter Nature Center will be hosting a presentation about animals of the St. Croix, including Raptors, Wood Turtles, Map Turtles, Toad, Hognose, and Salamanders. This event is open to all ages!
Raider Athletics & Activities: Reminder for Children 8th Grade & Younger
As we approach the Homecoming game on Friday night, please remember that all children 8th grade and younger are welcome but MUST be accompanied by an adult at all Roseville Area High School athletics and activities events. No exceptions.
Students must meet one of the following criteria to continue attending school:
- Have received all required immunizations
- Have a scheduled immunization appointment
- Have submitted a notarized exemption form
Starting October 21, 2024:
- Students who do not meet the immunization requirements will be instructed to stay home until the requirements are met.
- These absences will be marked as unexcused.
Why this matters:
- This policy helps protect our most vulnerable students, who are unable to receive vaccines.
- It minimizes the time students miss due to disease outbreaks, as those not immunized may be required to stay home per the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH).
If your student is missing any immunizations, you will receive a notice from the school's health office. Please respond promptly to ensure your student can remain in school.
For questions or concerns, contact your school’s health office.
