District Illness Guidelines
Dear OASD Families,
As we head into cold and flu season, general illness and COVID-19 continue to be reported as widespread across the United States. While we know that illnesses are common beginning this time of year and into the winter months, I am reaching out to remind everyone of our health practices at school and our illness guidelines to keep our students, staff, and schools as healthy as possible.
Health Practices at School:
Our schools will continue to be cleaned and sanitized daily and nightly, with high-touch surfaces receiving additional cleaning throughout the day.
Staff will continue to encourage good hand hygiene routines throughout the day.
Students who are feeling unwell will be taken to the Health Room for evaluation and parents will be contacted when a child needs to be sent home.
Illness Guidelines and Other Reminders:
We strongly encourage you to monitor your child’s health continually. It is important to be mindful of any illness symptoms that your child may have BEFORE sending them to school.
Please keep your child home for school if they are ill.
If your child is staying home due to illness, please contact our attendance line to report the absence and illness symptoms.
If your child experiences fever, vomiting, or diarrhea as their only symptoms, they may return to school 24-hours after the symptom has resolved.
Please see additional Illness Guidelines information here.
While the District will no longer enforce isolation periods for COVID-19 positive cases, we will continue to recommend current CDC guidelines for isolation. Additional CDC recommendations can be found here. Communicable disease cases may be reported to oconhealthservices@oasd.org.
Thank you for your partnership to keep our schools healthy.
Sincerely,
Christy Deal, MSN, RN
OASD Director of Nursing Services
Save the Date for the Nature Hill Music Holiday Extravaganza!
Please join the NHI Music Groups on Saturday, December 7th for a Holiday Extravaganza Concert! Families will be able to visit with Santa, enjoy a pancake breakfast, make arts and crafts, purchase delicious cookies and bars, and enjoy delightful music performances from our music students. Breakfast tickets will go on sale November 1st!
PBIS Monthly Update
October is National Bullying Awareness Month. This month is a timely reminder for us to take action to foster a safe and supportive environment in our school community. Our Character Strong and PBIS lessons over the next few weeks will focus on defining, reporting and confronting bullying situations as well as pledging to end bullying at Nature Hill. We will also celebrate World Unity Day on October 16th, which is an opportunity for us to reflect on what our NHI community would look like if we come together in kindness and take bullying out of the equation. For more information and family resources from our Character Strong Curriculum, please visit https://characterstrong.com/bullying-prevention.

Just to name a few of our clubs. So many to choose from
We are thrilled to introduce new annual sports passes for families, individuals, and 4K-8th grade students! These passes provide unlimited access to all OHS home games, for all sports, for the 2024-2025 school year. With an annual pass, you can support our Raccoons while enjoying the convenience of not having to purchase individual tickets for each event. https://www.oasd.k12.wi.us/schools/athletics/tickets/ Please note that elementary and intermediate age children must be supervised by an adult, parent, or guardian at all OHS athletic events and must have an electronic ticket in order to enter events. Your support and supervision ensures a positive atmosphere and that everyone has a great time.
Lost and Found
Any item found out of place at NHI can be located in our lost and found. This collection sits in our cafeteria, where students can look through it any time they'd like. We donate items left behind three or four times a year. Parents will be warned two weeks before a planned donation date with a notice here in the Wolf Pack Press.
Work Permit Process
Parents of students 16 and younger seeking a work permit, will now log on to the Department of Workforce Developments page and use their permit application tool. Here is the link: Work Permit.
This new system will allow you to apply for a permit 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from any computer, tablet or smartphone. You will make your payment through the system as well. The department will mail a paper copy of the permit directly to your child's employer.
