Message from the Principal
Hello Fairmount Park Families,
It's finally here! The first day of school only two days away! I have had the opportunity to work with Fairmount Park staff this last week and feel so lucky to be a part of such a wonderful team.
We are excited to welcome you on Tuesday afternoon to meet your child's teacher and reunite with friends!
September 3 - Open House
- Learn and meet your teacher
- Meet & greet other staff from Fairmount Park
- Participate in a scavenger hunt to explore the school
- Reconnect with friends
- Use available laptops to complete volunteer application, lunch application, find 'The Source', etc
- Visit the Book Fair during Open House and after (open 3-5:30pm in the library)
School Supplies π
- For the 2024/25 school year, our PTA has generously covered all school supply costs for Fairmount Park students with donations from last year.
- As a result, thereβs no need for you to purchase supplies. Instead, please ensure your child brings a backpack and a water bottle to school.
- To support future supply needs, we encourage families who can, to please contribute during the PTA fundraising campaign in November. Your support is greatly appreciated!
Daily Schedule π
- 7:40 β Playground opens.
- 7:40-7:50 β Breakfast is served.
- 7:50 β Warning bell; students able to enter the building.
- 7:55 β School begins.
- 2:25 β Dismissal (1:10 on Wednesdays)
- 2:35 β Buses depart (1:20 on Wednesdays)
Important Reminder about 1st Day of School Schedule
Wednesday, September 4th will be a full school day. 7:55-2:25
Arrival and Dismissal
Morning Drop Off 7:40am-7:50am
Walkers and car drop off will occur on the blacktop (playground) every day. The first week of school teachers will meet students at marked locations. Bus riders will enter through the front door. Be sure to arrive by 7:50 am as this will help your child have a great start to the day.
Afternoon Pick-up 2:25pm
Walkers and car riders will walk out with their teachers to the blacktop area. Each class will have an assigned location where will they meet their pick-up person (this will be the same marked location as the AM drop-off). Students will need to let their teacher know that their pick-up person is present before they will be dismissed.
Safety Considerations
- Please be sure that your child's teacher knows their going home plan
- The alley next to FPE is for staff and apartment access. It is not a car drop off location. Many students travel by foot this way and our neighbors have reported being blocked in and unable to leave for work. Please respect our whole community by leaving the alley way for the intended users.
- Please support your student in following this procedure to ensure student safety.
Book Fair
Please plan on visiting Ms. Halladin at the Book Fair during Open House (Tuesday September 3rd from 3-6 pm).
The Book Fair will also be open Wednesday September 4th, during school and 2:30-5:30 pm and Thursday September 5th, during recess and lunch.
For convenience, use our Book Fair website to set up an eWallet for your child so they can shop without cash during the fair, you can also shop online. This is a great opportunity to raise funds for our school library, as well as add to your home library.
Tardies and Absences
- Tardy - If your child arrives after 7:55 please go to the office to check in before they head to their classroom.
- Absence - Please contact our attendance office anytime your child will be absent from school.

π΅Phone and Smartwatch Policy
Growing bodies of research show that the use of interactive technology (in the form of social media, video games, and group chats, etc.) in school age children is linked to greater incidents of depression and anxiety.
To support our children's positive emotional and mental development, the use of phones and smartwatches are not permitted during the school day at Fairmount Park. In an urgent event or an emergency, Fairmount Park staff will contact you immediately. If phones need to be in your child's possession during school hours, they will need to be kept in a backpack and will not be accessed unless outside of school hours. It is best practice to leave phones and smartwatches at home during the school day. Thank you for supporting FPE staff in caring for our students' mental and emotional health.
