October is College Application Month!
Register: Virtual Financial Aid Webinars
Students and families interested in learning about financial aid basics are encouraged to register for a virtual financial aid presentation provided by the MI Student Aid team.
Participants will be able to gather information on the following financial aid topics:
- FAFSA application information
- Federal financial aid programs
- State financial aid programs
- Scholarship searching resources
There are multiple dates and times to choose from and all sessions are free of charge and open to the public. Register for one session only, as space is limited.

How to Decide Where to Apply to College
Once you've built your college list, your next step is to begin the process of applying to colleges. Check out the GetSchooled resource! This organization shares incredible information, including tips to help you decide where to apply to college!
The First AP Invoices will be coming from APTS beginning October 1, 2024. A $40 Deposit must be paid October 31, 2024 (Students who are eligible for fee reductions must still pay the initial $40 deposit for each AP Exam, but will receive a partial refund from all the initial deposits in May 2025).

Oakland University, in collaboration with the Consulate of Mexico-Detroit, is offering a free seminar in Spanish for high school students and their families. It includes four presentations on college preparation and resources.

NASA TECHRISE Student Challenge
The NASA 2024-25 TechRise Student Challenge invites student teams in grades 6-12 to submit a science or technology experiment idea for NASA’s TechRise flight vehicle – the high-altitude balloon. Registration for the challenge opened on August 1 and team entries are due November 1. Teams of all skill levels are encouraged to participate. Sixty winning teams will receive $1,500 to build their experiment, a spot to test it on a NASA-sponsored flight, and technical support from NASA TechRise advisors. The challenge is a great way to get hands-on experience with a NASA project this school year. Teams of All Skill Levels Encouraged to Participate!
