Positive Behavior Bingo
Under the direction of teacher Mrs. Wolf, Emerson students enjoyed a Bingo period on Jan 29 to celebrate their positive behavior.
Data supporting the celebration includes that 94% of Emerson students only have 0-1 behavior referrals. Keep up the positive work, Bulldogs!
Each group enjoyed playing four games. The excitement was electric as students waved teachers over to express their joy as their card moved closer to winning. Cries of “Look, I just need two,” then “I just need one” preceded the magical call of “BINGO!”
Emerson Alumnae Scoring Big
Two Emerson alumnae are making their mark in the Macomb Area Conference Basketball League. As freshmen, the Turner twins, Janielle & Mackenzie (’22 Emerson grads), are among the leading scorers for the Utica Eisenhower varsity team. The team is undefeated in league play and about to become a Top 10 team in Michigan’s basketball rankings. The girls’ Emerson roots are still alive as cousins Austyn & Ariana Schings are succeeding as Bulldog 2nd & 5th graders.
First Grade Penguin Day
Ms. Gordon and Mrs. Copacia hosted a Penguin Day this week. Students studied penguins through various exercises including life cycles, learning penguin nouns & verbs, designing a pet penguin, attaching penguin parts, playing a penguin parade game, and completing a word search.
Penguin Day was possible with the help of these honorary penguin parents: Ms. Heather, Ms. Amanda, Ms. Brea, Papa Joe, Mrs. Tull, Mrs. Rowland, Mr. Merriam, Mrs. Powell, and Mrs. Rodriguez.
Students make Videos to Review PAWS Behaviors
As our PAWS refresher for the 2nd half of the year, each grade is making a PAWS Expectations video. Grade level teams signed up for a PAWS location (see chart below). The grade levels then recorded a short video going over the behavioral expectations for that site. The videos varied from skits & re-enactments to students explaining the expectations. The videos will become part of the weekly video school announcements.
Our third graders were assigned “dismissal.” Ms. Strahan’s class portrayed what a good dismissal looks like. Mrs. Thompson’s class portrayed the opposite. Can you tell from the picture below which class is pictured?
