In simplest terms, courage is the quality of being brave: the ability to face danger, difficulty, uncertainty, or pain without being overcome by fear or being deflected from a chosen course of action. “It takes courage to make the right decision when it is not a popular decision.”
What are some ways you can show courage:
1. Do the right thing, even if others are not
2. Bravely deal with your daily challenges
3. Be willing to try new things, even if you might fail
4. Tell the truth regardless of the consequences
5. Face your fears and work to overcome them
6. Admit your mistakes and learn from them
7. Do not give into negative peer pressure
Many of our students value courage, but most have a self-destructive vision of it. To them, the most courageous thing you can do is the most outrageous thing you can do. The more dangerous it is, the more courageous it is. Try and teach your child that courage is about risk, but for a purpose rather than a thrill. Courage is about risk that promotes some greater good, whether you are comfortable with it or not.

6th and 7th graders will be working on exploring career and interests by working in a program called Missouri Connections. We will also be welcoming in CHADS to speak to students about the effect of Social Media on Mental Health. Please contact me if you have any questions!

When February comes, school counselors think about scheduling! This month, we will be working on completing our ICAP's (Individual Career & Academic Plan). Ask you student to share the results of their interest surveys with you and talk about future career options!

8th graders will get their first experience with high school on March 27 & 28. Dr Cook (our high school counselor) will begin scheduling at the end of March - more information to come soon!
