VPMS Counselor's Corner
February 2025
Character Word of the Month: Courage
What are some ways you can show courage:
1. Do the right thing, even if others are not
2. Bravely deal with your daily challenges
3. Be willing to try new things, even if you might fail
4. Tell the truth regardless of the consequences
5. Face your fears and work to overcome them
6. Admit your mistakes and learn from them
7. Do not give into negative peer pressure
Many of our students value courage, but most have a self-destructive vision of it. To them, the most courageous thing you can do is the most outrageous thing you can do. The more dangerous it is, the more courageous it is. Try and teach your child that courage is about risk, but for a purpose rather than a thrill. Courage is about risk that promotes some greater good, whether you are comfortable with it or not.

VPMS School Counseling - How Can I Help?
As a school counselor, my most important job is to help students succeed in school. I am in charge of looking out for your child's academic progress, personal/social development and emotional well-being.
Communication between the school counselor and parents is vital. If you have a concern about your child, you may call and/or send an email. In addition, there is a link to schedule an appointment listed on my website.
