Wildwood Weekly

We have officially entered into a special season here at Wildwood Elementary. This past week, our school celebrated Wellness Week by spending 4 days focusing on different aspects of healthy living. Our Tigers had fun playing with Cal Lutheran athletes, walking to school, visiting with local first responders, tasting nutritious foods, wearing sport gear to school, and celebrating with our entire school community at Thursday's Halloween Parade!

Thank you to all of you who joined us for this year's All Grades Costume Parade on Thursday morning. Our students loved showing off their costumes and Tiger Pride in front of a large, supportive audience.

On Monday, November 18, Wildwood will conduct the first round of this year's school spelling bee. All interested 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students are invited to the MPR after they eat lunch to take a 25-question spelling test that will determine the 8-12 students who will move forward to our final spelling bee in December. Any 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade students who are absent on November 18 may join us for a make-up test at the same time and place on Tuesday, November 19.

Not all fliers will appear as images in our Wildwood Weekly newsletter, and we don't want you to miss out on community events, classes, or opportunities that are of interest to you. Fliers are organized under three tabs:

• School-Connected Organizations and Governmental Agencies
• Non-Profit Groups
• All Other Groups

From time to time, individuals or groups in the community will distribute information and advertisements to parents/guardians on the public sidewalks during school arrival or dismissal. This information is not affiliated or endorsed by Wildwood Elementary and CVUSD. Any approved communications (i.e. announcements, fliers) from Wildwood Elementary and CVUSD will be provided directly from the school to you via email, or given to your students to take home. If you ever are unsure whether or not materials are from Wildwood Elementary and CVUSD, please do not hesitate to contact the front office.

Attention students and parents: California has introduced a new Short Term Independent Study (STIS) policy designed to provide flexible learning options for students who may need to be absent from school for short periods.

Under this policy, families can request between 1 – 15 days per school year of independent study for various reasons including illness, family emergencies, or other short-term circumstances. Students will receive assignments, allowing them to engage with the curriculum while away from the classroom.

To request STIS, please contact the Wildwood office. We encourage all families to take advantage of this opportunity to support their children's education during unforeseen circumstances.
