Principal's Message
My name is Magenda Cruz and as Principal of Davis Elementary School, I am excited to welcome our Davis Tigers back to campus to kick off the 2024/25 school year! For our returning families, we are grateful that you have entrusted us with your student’s academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth for another year. To our new families, we can’t wait to show you our Tiger spirit and welcome you to our school community. As a parent of a Davis student myself, I know your student will be in good hands as our teachers and staff work to promote your student’s growth. Along with my teachers and staff, I look forward to a year of continued partnership in ensuring your student’s success here at Davis.
I am extremely excited to welcome new members to our Davis Team. Please join me in welcoming the following staff members to our Davis community:
- Sierra Parafin: Kindergarten
- Megan Sawyer: 2nd Grade
- Victoria Kuhn: 5th/6th
- Jenne McGranahan: Reading Intervention
- Christopher Suess: RSP
- Ouida McCullough: Counselor
- Nicole McDaniel: School Psychologist
At Davis, we have three core values that we refer to as our Tiger Tenets that make up “The Davis Way.” For our community, that means these are the things we really care about and will develop in all our students. We will continue to reinforce our tenets and your student will learn all about these CORE values during their first days of school. We will also have more information in the student planner that will help you and your student understand how we do things here and how your student can be successful at Davis.
Our Tiger Tenets are the following:
BE SAFE.
BE RESPECTFUL.
BE RESPONSIBLE.
Communication is key to a successful partnership between the school and our families. Our communications to families will go out via Blackboard Connect. Please make sure you update your emergency card and complete the data confirmation page in the Aeries Parent Portal. We must have a current parent email, as Blackboard utilizes information pulled from Aeries Parent Portal. Please call us at (209) 953-8301 with your current email as soon as possible.
To further support our initiative to improve communications, we will provide routine updates on our website (http://davis.lodiusd.net/) and via social media. Follow us on social media for the latest information:

Our first day back with students will be on Tuesday, July 30th. School begins at 8:00 am for all students and gates will be open at 7:40 am for students electing to consume breakfast on campus. Bell schedules for Regular and Minimum Days can be found below. Your student’s teacher can be viewed on the Aeries Parent Portal linked through the school or district website.
Additionally, please plan on joining us for Back to School Night this year. This will be an opportunity to learn about Davis and the Title I program, attend an Otter Pop social, and meet your student’s teachers.

Please remember that the front gate does not open until 7:40 am as there is no supervision for students prior to this time. It is important that students come to school dressed appropriately, including wearing school-appropriate shoes. If your student comes to school in Crocs or sandals, they will be asked to sit out PE and may not go in the barkbox or onto the fields during recess due to safety concerns.
Students who wish to eat breakfast in the cafeteria should arrive no later than 7:45 am. For students arriving by bus, please proceed immediately to the cafeteria. The cafeteria will be cleared out 15 minutes after the latest bus arrives to ensure that students do not miss instructional time.
Lunch Options For The Week
Chromebooks
District-issued Chromebooks are provided to your student to support in their learning. Please remind your students to charge their Chromebooks overnight, ensuring they are ready for the next day's learning activities. The Chromebook Care Plan is offered as an optional coverage plan to help families with repair costs of district-issued Chromebooks. More information can be found here.
Picking Students Up
Please remember that if your student has not yet been dismissed and you are in the loading zone, staff will be asking you to park or loop around to allow other parents to load their students who are waiting. We also ask that you model safe behaviors and use the crosswalk. Our Tigers know this is a Tiger Tenet and a way to be safe!
We thank you for your patience and for working with our staff to ensure dismissal occurs smoothly.
Have You Reported Your Students' Absence?
If your student will be out, be sure to call the office at 209-953-8301 to report your their absence. Students who have a medical or dental appointment will need to bring a note from their doctor upon their return.
Additionally, it is important your student arrives on time, ready to learn. School starts at 8:00 am and students are expected to be in their classes at this time.
