Headteacher's Bulletin

Highlights of the week
Mr Lisseman - Headteacher
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back! It’s been a fantastic first week following our two-week break, with students quickly settling back into the rhythm of school life. We’ve already embarked on a theatre trip, and our Year 11 students have shown a commendable commitment to their studies, kicking off their first set of mock exams with focus and maturity. Their attendance, behaviour, and attitude towards these assessments have been impressive, with so many demonstrating exemplary revision practices in between exams. Good luck, Year 11—you’ve got this, and we’re incredibly proud of your dedication and determination!
Next week marks our much-anticipated fundraising efforts for Children in Need, an event that always brings out the generosity and spirit of our school community. Alongside this, we will be observing a one-minute silence on Monday, 11th November, in honour of Remembrance Day, paying respects to all who have suffered as a result of war or conflict.
A couple of quick reminders:
- Natural hair colours only are allowed
- No long nails (acrylic or otherwise)
- No trainers
- Blazers are worn at all times in the corridor (jumpers are optional)
- No hoodies in the playground or in school
As the weather turns cold - please ensure all your children have a warm winter school coat.
Please ensure that all students arrive to school by 8.25am at the latest so that they have time to be at their tutor room by 8.30am.
Please read on for further updates in this busy and exciting term ahead.
Student bulletin
Each Monday morning in tutor time, students and their form tutors review the weekly student bulletin. This is a round up of all the important information, notices and reminders that they need to know. the bulletin is also posted on the screens around school so they can refer back to it at any time.
Twickenham School's fundraiser for BBC Children in Need
We are very proud to be supporting the 2024 BBC Children in Need campaign on 15 November, to raise money for Children ‘who carry the weight of the world on their shoulders’. Students have listened in assemblies this week to find out about they can make very small sacrifices to better the lives of others, including those in our own community.
There is a range of different activities and competitions that students can be involved in:
- House Non uniform day – suggested donation £1 or £2
- House bake competition and sale
- Art Poster Competition
- Sponsored 5K walk/run during PE lessons
It would be wonderful if, together we can reach our school target of £1000. Thank you for your support.

We are hosting a book fair from 19 - 21 November.

Flu Vaccinations Consent
This vaccination is recommended to help protect your child against flu. Flu can be an unpleasant illness and sometimes causes serious complications. Vaccinating your child will also help protect more vulnerable family and friends by preventing the spread of flu.
Please complete one consent form for each child to ensure your child receives their vaccination.
The Nurse team will visit school on Tuesday 12 December. They will be offered the live nasal flu spray or the injectable porcine free flu vaccine. The nasal spray vaccination is a quick and simple spray up the nose. Even if your child had it last year, it is recommended to have the flu vaccine again this year due to changes in flu strains circulating each year.
