PRINCIPAL'S WEEKLY MESSAGE
Happy Friday Ridgeview families! Here are your weekly updates.
On Sat May 3rd, Central will be hosting a One World Day. This event will showcase the many talents of Central's high school students and staff, as they celebrate the many cultures represented at Central High School. A flyer can be found further down in the newsletter. We hope you’re able to join them in the fun!
State Testing has begun and we’re off to a great start! We are so very excited for our kiddos to show their talents and skills in reading, math, and science. This is a tough time of the year for our kiddos due to all the testing so it’s important for all of us, staff and families, that we set them up for the most success possible. Below are the remaining testing dates, as well as some testing tips for home. If you have any questions about testing, please feel free to reach out to an administrator.
OST Math Make-Ups: April 28-May 2
OST 8th Grade Science: April 29 & 30
Info for Parents at Home:
Please make sure students charge their chromebooks overnight, as the building does not have loaners and/or chargers for students to borrow to use.
Students should eat breakfast, whether at home or at school to have fuel for testing. Food cannot be in the testing room.
Though we will be on an adjusted bell schedule during these days, school will still begin at 7:15 am. Please be sure students arrive to school on time! It’s that Important!!
Please be advised that we will be following our building testing protocols. Student devices will be collected and other personal belongings (ex: backpacks) will be placed in one area of the classroom until the testing window is closed for each testing day. There is no exception to this rule! Students who violate these protocols could receive disciplinary action.
Encourage your student(s) to do their best, take their time, and use the skills they’ve been learning all year. They’ve got this! We know this! We need the students to know this, receive it, and get ‘er done!
Please click here to sign up to donate to our annual 8th grade/Staff Cookout. We need food and drink items, but will take monetary donations as well. This is during Staff Appreciation Week and our PTO is the sponsor. Thanks in advance for considering to be a part of the fun! If you have questions, please contact our PTO president, Kelly Martin. Her info, as well as this link, is below in the newsletter.
We now have a total of 4 weeks of school left in the year. We have a great deal of work left to do. That work includes OST and iReady testing, 7th and 8th grade Award Celebrations, National Junior Honor Society induction for rising 8th graders, and our annual 8th grade cookout just to name a few. I mention this because attendance is still as important the last several weeks of school as it is all year. It is imperative we finish the year strong and students arrive on time daily. Let’s all make a concerted effort to end on a great note going into the summer!
Take care everyone and we’ll see you again next week! GO TIGERS!

Early Dismissal Information
District Policy states that only guardians listed on Infinite Campus are permitted to pick up their student. If your student needs to be picked up early by someone who is NOT their guardian, a guardian must call the office to let us know who will be picking up their child. The other adult must present a valid ID to office staff for the student to be released to them.
Personal Communication Devices:
Pick-up times for Personal Communication Devices will be Mon - Fri in the main office from 8:00 am - 1:45 pm and again from 2:30 pm - 3:00 pm as long as school is in session. The main office closes at 3:00 pm daily.
We’re collecting more devices daily. If your student has a device confiscated and it doesn’t belong to them, the person that it belongs to AS WELL AS the student who had it taken from will be added to our spreadsheet for a confiscated device. Please make a note of this.

Spring Testing Dates and Reminders
Spring testing - the Ohio Assessment Testing
Please take a look at the testing dates below to avoid scheduling appointments if at all possible. If a student starts a test, they will need to finish the test that same day.
Reminder to all parents - be sure students come to school with their Chromebooks fully charged and earbuds. Students will be testing from 7:15am to about 10:00am.
Per testing policy, students can not have their cell phones, watches with internet access, air-pods or beats out during the test, if at all possible leave these at home. If not, teachers will be collecting devices during testing and returning them after.
If a student misses a test, they will have to make it up during class time and will be missing instruction.

HELP Make Our Schools Safer
The Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Public Safety have launched the SaferOH tip line that will accept both calls and texts 24 hours a day.
This tip line allows students and adults to anonymously share information with school officials and law enforcement about threats to student safety—whether that involves a threatened mass incident or harm to a single student.
Every tip can remain anonymous. School safety analysts may ask for additional information, but the caller can remain secret or leave his or her contact information for later follow-up.
Calls or texts to 844-SaferOH (844-723-3764) are answered by analysts in the Ohio Homeland Security’s Threat Assessment and Prevention (TAP) Unit. When action is needed, the TAP Unit immediately forwards information to Pickerington Schools, local law enforcement agencies, and others, if necessary.
