LW Marching Arts Update
July 23-29, 2023
Band Camp Reminders
What to bring/wear:
*Athletic clothes and shoes. Woodwinds and brass wear white shirts and percussion, guard and drum majors wear black shirts.
*Bring band binder with sheet protectors for instrumentalists. Part 3 and 4 should be printed before Monday.
*Bring sunscreen and reapply throughout the day during breaks.
*Bug spray.
*Bring a LARGE water jug labeled with your child's name. We will also have a water bottle refilling station and a water mister in the stadium available to help keep cool.
*Wear a hat, pull longer hair off the neck and wear sunglasses.
*Wear good supportive gym shoes and socks.
*Pack an extra shirt and socks in your child's band bag. It is nice to have dry clothes to change into if they get soaked from rain or even sweat.
*Bring extra deodorant.
*Send extra snacks so your child can refuel during breaks. They will be working hard, so they might need some extra calories during the day.
*Money for meals.
*Hand sanitizer/wipes
Meal Info:
If your child signed up for meals, please send $10 cash (exact amount, please) for each day they ordered. If you or your child forgot what they ordered, check your email for the meal submission confirmation. We cannot guarantee that change will be available, so please send the exact amount if possible. Thank you!
Dessert donations:
If you signed up to donate a dessert during band camp, those can be dropped off in the Visitor's Concession stand at Central. The stand is the brick building across from the Field House entrance. Please place your donations on the counter and cross your name off the list that will also be on the counter. Thank you!
Other Tips:
*Make sure to eat breakfast before camp and avoid dairy of possible.
*Get plenty of rest each night.
*Medications – If your child requires medication, please try to schedule it before or after
camp when possible. If a student absolutely needs their meds at camp during the day, the
procedure is the same as it is for school – It should be brought to camp in its original package,
labeled with prescription or product information, sealed in a zip lock bag and accompanied by
the medication permission form signed by a healthcare provider. Please indicate on the
bag if a med needs to be kept in the cooler. Students should turn in meds to the First Aid tent before practice starts and allow extra time for this. This will be located on the track in the
stadium. Your child is responsible for coming to the first aid tent to take their meds at their
scheduled time. The only exceptions are self carry meds such as albuterol inhalers,
epinephrine pens, and insulin. It is the responsibility of the student to pick up meds from first
aid at the end of each practice, as we do not have the capacity to store them outside of band
camp hours.
*Reminder that students are not allowed to take any medication (even over the counter
medication) during camp without a signed medication form.
*Chaperones at Band Camp — There will be chaperones on hand at Band Camp helping
with the water refilling stations, as well as tending to medical needs of the students. Chaperones who are signed up for a shift should report to the tent on the track near the visitor stands to check in upon arrival. Lunch supervisors and lunch servers should meet at the Visitor's Concession Stand when arriving.
