Mission Statement
St. Maria Goretti is a living testament to our Lord's work in His youngest disciples, exemplified by academic excellence, spiritual formation, and compassionate service to others.
St. Maria Goretti Catholic School aims to form what is True, Good, and Beautiful in the souls of our young disciples of Christ.
Principal's Message
Dear St. Maria Goretti Catholic School Families,
Our Trojan Trot fundraiser has begun. Our goal is $25,000 this year. If we reach our goal, the students will get to duct tape the principal at the Trojan Trot. The first challenge is to create an account on mybooster.com. Homeroom teachers emailed links to their classrooms on Friday. Please share with your friend and family.
May Crowning is Tuesday at 10:00 in the church. Sister Thuan has worked diligently to make our ceremony more meaningful with certain colored flowers. In order to help make her vision a reality, the school has purchased flowers for all of the students. If you would like to make a monetary donation to help us cover the cost for the flowers, please send it to the front office.
Thursday is our band concert. This will take place in the gym at 9:00 AM. All are invited to attend. Please check in at the front office. That afternoon at 12:15 PM we will have our sports luncheon and awards, followed by our last pep rally of the year at 1:30. Come and share some school spirit!
We changed the time for the Home and School/Trojan Trot party. It will still take place on Friday, May 16, 2025. We are starting at 4:00! This way you can pick up your kiddos and come have fun. HSA will be providing hamburgers and hot dogs. Be on the look out for SUG to sign up to bring sides and desserts. We will conclude our evening at 6:00.
Our school yearbooks and ads are now on sale. Use this link to purchase your yearbook today! https://link.entourageyearbooks.com/my/SMG2025 Ads are nice to remember First Holy Communion, 8th grade graduation, other important milestones, or to advertise your business.
We learned this week that there will NOT be Mass on May 14th. This is the date we had schedule for Candle Passing. This event will still take place. The ceremony will begin at 8:30 AM in the church. We will also be recognizing SMG staff who are not returning next year; as well as the 8th grade families who are graduating their last Trojan. Please make plans to attend if you are able.
It's May and there are A LOT of things going on. Please be sure to read the Trojan Times each week for the most current information on end of year activities.
I would like to thank you and your children for the wonderful Principal's Day. I received so many beautiful pictures, flowers, cards with the sweetest notes, and songs. I LOVE my job. I am so blessed to be the principal at SMG. Your children make my job so sweet. Thank you.
St. Maria Goretti, Pray for Us!
Blessings,
Amy Utendorf, M.Ed.

TERRIFIC TROJANS
SMG students receive a Terrific Trojan sticker when they are "caught" being safe, responsible and respectful. After wearing the sticker during the day, the Terrific Trojan places it on the hallway bulletin board. We love seeing how full the bulletin board becomes by the end of the school year.
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Mrs. Richards and her talented group of Trojan Troupe actors presented a dynamic production of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
The play takes place in Narmia, a rich tapestry of symbolism and metaphor that allows for multiple interpretations, including a Christian one where characters and events parallel biblical narratives. While not a strict allegory, the stories offer a compelling exploration of faith, redemption, and the potential of a world guided by divine grace.
Science Class "Breaks Bread"
Mrs. Saladino's students explored the science of cooking while making bread and butter.
As God supplies bread, so he will also supply righteousness to his people ( 2 Cor 9:10 ).
Ballet Folklorico
The Ballet Folklorico Dance Club performed at Mercado Nights last Friday. Thanks for representing our school in the community!
Dia Del Nino
Mrs. Zavala coordinated another fun day to celebrate Dia Del Nino, a celebration that began in Mexico started in 1925. A short explanation of the history of Dia del Nino was shared, then we enjoyed a presentaiton about tortill making. Due to the rain, kite flying was not an option, however, students enjoyed treats while visitng the toritilla factory.
Principal's Day
In honor of School Principals' Day, we celebrated Mrs. Utendorf to recognize and appreciate her leadership and dedication. She is shaping a positive and successful educational environment for students, teachers and the school community.
Kid's Gala
The sock hop was a blast! The evening began with a delicious meal of hamburgers and hot dogs with all the fixings. The cupcakes were the perfect dessert. Following dinner, students particpated in fun games and activities in the gym.
School Vouchers
Bishop Olson and Father Maul travled to Austin this weekend to recognize the approval of a private school voucher program by the Texas House which allows families to use taxpayer funds for their children's private education.
2nd Grade Communion
SMG second grade students received their First Holy Communion Saturday followed by a reception. Congratulations to these students and their families.
