From Mr. Lucita
Great things continue to happen within the Jaguar Band! Our students are working towards so many upcoming events and performances!
This week is the final week of preparation for Solo and Ensemble! We have 100% of the Johnson Band Instrumentalists performing a solo at UIL Solo & Ensemble contest or for a separate performance event! Every student gets to showcase what they can do!
We have started weekly Drum Camps at the high school bandhall focusing on preparing our 8th, 9th and 10th grade percussionist for the 2020 Marching Season! These camps are held for all percussionists on Tuesday afternoons from 5:00-6:30!
Winter Guard is continuing to prepare for their inaugural competitive season! The students have their daily class schedule as well as their weekly after school rehearsals on Thursday’s from 5:00-8:00. The Winter Guard will take the floor in their first TCGC Contest on February 1st at Akins High School! Can’t wait to see what the future holds for this incredible group of students!
We are preparing for our recruiting trips to Dahlstrom and McCormick MS as those MS students are completing their schedule requests for next year. We wanted to share how Johnson Band students can be in band and anything they want at Johnson HS! In going through this process we realized that we have Jaguar Band members in almost every organization on the JHS campus: football, track, cross country, basketball, tennis, golf, baseball, theater, swim, CTE and numerous other groups and clubs!! Below are pictures of the posters that will be hung in the DMS, MMS and JHS Bandhall on Monday! Our Jaguar Band members really do it all!
