COMMUNITY UPDATE
Hello North Rockland Families,
As the first week of March draws to a close, I am filled with pride and optimism as our students prepare for several exciting activities. First, a huge shout-out to our NRHS Boys Varsity Basketball team. This hardworking and talented squad is set to compete against New Rochelle in the Section One Finals this Sunday, March 9 at 2:30 p.m. at the Westchester County Center in White Plains. Many of our North Rockland students and families will be there to cheer on the Red Raiders as they face the Huguenots for the gold ball.
Our North Rockland High School Drama Society is celebrating the arts with its production of The Addams Family Musical. The curtain rises at 7 p.m. tonight with a second performance tomorrow at 7 p.m. Next week, our NRHS student-actors will return to the stage on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. This is the final musical performance of the 2024-25 academic year and it promises to be a fantastic production. Select your seats and skip the line with our ticketing website. Break a leg!
This week, NRHS seniors celebrated the Top 5% of the Class of 2025. I share a heartfelt congratulations to these outstanding students and the dedication they’ve shown to achieve academic excellence. For our seniors, this time of year often brings a mix of emotions. I encourage our twelfth graders to embrace every moment of the high school experience. No matter where you go next, please know that NRCSD will always be here to support you. Once a Red Raider, always a Red Raider!
While there were no classes for students on this Superintendent’s Conference Day, our administrators and staff were busy engaging in valuable professional development sessions. I was happy to see the meaningful collaboration, learning and the valuable insights our educators gained in sessions focused on curriculum, technology and supports. In North Rockland, we are committed to continuous improvement and ensuring the best educational experience for our students.
Finally, we are excited for our Cheer team as it competes in the State Championship at the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton tomorrow. And, along with our Track and Field stars who will run for the gold on Saturday at the State Championship at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island, our Red Raider student-athletes are certain to make us proud. Who needs TV this weekend when you can catch The Addams Family Musical, Red Raiders championship basketball, cheer and track and field!
As a reminder, this weekend we "spring forward" as we adjust our clocks one hour ahead for Daylight Saving Time. Don’t forget to set your clocks.

2025-26 Budget Updates
Did You Know?
NRCSD is proud to be one of only 17 districts in New York State to have achieved a 0% tax levy increase over the past five years.
The 2025-26 budget is on track for the sixth consecutive year of a zero percent tax levy increase. Our goal remains to provide a safe, supportive and positive learning environment where all students can reach their full potential and develop the skills needed for future success. We are dedicated to offering an exceptional educational experience while being mindful of the tax burden on our community.

Yondr Pouches at FMS
Since January, Fieldstone Middle School has successfully implemented a pilot of the Yondr program with seventh-grade students. Early feedback highlights significant benefits, including reduced distractions, increased focus and improved interpersonal communication. Students report being more productive, with fewer disruptions from drama and rumors and are no longer preoccupied with their phones. Teachers have observed higher levels of engagement in the classroom, while parents have noted a positive shift toward better academic focus and a reduction in social pressures.
Building on this success, FMS plans to expand the program to include both seventh and eighth graders next year. Additionally, the District is collaborating with school principals to explore the potential for introducing the program in 4-6 grade buildings.

Dylan Shelton
Dylan is a senior on the North Rockland High School’s varsity wrestling team. Dylan has been an absolute powerhouse all season and truly showcased his athleticism at the NYS Wrestling Tournament this past weekend. The captain’s career record is 90-29 and his season record is 43-4. The 190 lbs wrestler’s accolades this year include placing first at the Rockland County Wrestling Championship and Kohl Championship, placing second in the Section One Championships (3x All-Section), and earning second All-State just this past weekend after defeating the number one seed on the first day. Dylan is known to be methodical and versatile on the mat, making sure he listens to his coaches when he needs it the most. His coach said, “Dylan put in a ton of work this year in the off season and continued to work throughout the season. It’s been said a thousand times, but hard work does pay off. Everything Dylan accomplished this year, he earned from consistently working hard in the wrestling room and weight room. He was a pleasure to coach because he was always ready to work.“
