Tiger Choir Chronicles
Travis Tiger Choir Weekly Updates
October 21 - October 25
Happy Homecoming Week!
Go Tigers!
News for Everyone
A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to our students who auditioned at the Region round of the All-State process this weekend! We had 6 students place into the Region Mixed choir, and 5 students place into the District Treble and Tenor-Bass Choirs! This is a huge accomplishment for all of these students! Of the 6 students singing in the Mixed Choir, we have 5 of these students advancing to the Pre-Area round and 1 alternate to the Pre-Area round! I am SO proud of all of these students and the work they continue to put in as we continue moving through the All-State Audition process!
Fall Fundraiser Kick-Off
On Tuesday, we will kick of our Fall Donation Fundraiser for the Booster Club. This is our primary fundraiser that allows us to do MANY awesome things for the students. The following list contains just a few of the many things our boosters were able to do for our students as a result of last year's successful fundraiser:
- Provide 6 scholarships to All-State Camps
- Provide private voice lessons for several students
- Assist with Choir Fees
- Sponsor several social events including the Fall Festival and holiday game night
- Organize and sponsor last year's choir banquet for our students
- Lower the cost of the choir banquet tickets for all students who wished to attend
- Provide meals for students who advanced to the Region Weekend
- Provide meals for students during both Pre-UIL and UIL Contest
- Provide meals and/or snacks for students who need to stay after school on concert days
- Assist with providing costumes, props, and design elements for Pop Show.
As you can see, our priority is to ensure that our fundraiser money goes to help our students in any way possible.
This past week, we got all students set up with an account on the Raise365 platform so that they are ready to go and win prizes on Tuesday when the company representative is present. To help finalize preparations, they were sent home with a contact sheet to gather names and contact information of potential donors. We appreciate your assistance in helping them with this in order to ensure a successful fundraiser.
Please note that in the Raise 365 platform, it says each student has a goal of $300 and I want to clarify that there is NO requirement for any student to fundraise any specific amount. All I ask is that every student TRIES since EVERYONE benefits from our fundraiser.
Last year we raised just over $15,000 and this year our goal is $20,000! Prizes will be awarded for every tier we reach as well as to top fundraisers in each class period! Thank you in advance for your help and support!
Congratulations Choir Beau & Sweetheart!
Repeat: Homecoming Football Game Update
Due to new district guidelines that came out after school started, we are no longer able to have our entire choir program sing at the Homecoming football game. I apologize for this conflict with the calendars given out, however, this decision and guidelines were given to teachers in mid-August after our calendars were published. Chorale will still be required for the game, but all students in Treble Choir, Tenor-Bass Choir, and Advanced Treble Choir are not required to attend this game.
Join our Choir Booster Club!
Our Choir Parent Booster Club operates to help support and assist the choir program in many ways! We have regular meetings to help plan events, discuss volunteer needs, and discuss financial needs of the choir program. You can be as involved as you would like to be! To encourage membership, the board has waived all membership fees this year in hopes that you will join us and find out ways you can support your child in their musical journey as a member of the Travis Tiger Choir!
THANK YOU to our generous Tiger Choir sponsors!
Thank you to everyone who has been purchasing items from our Amazon Wishlist to help "clear the list!" If you are able to browse our list and help purchase an item, we would be SO grateful for your support!

Voice Lessons
This year we are thrilled to add another private voice teacher to our staff and extend a warm welcome to Mr. Antoine Griggs. Mr. Griggs is an accomplished performer who regularly sings with various organizations in Houston, including the Houston Ebony Opera Guild and Houston Grand Opera! He came to campus a couple weeks ago to meet the students and began lessons last week. He still has a few spots open. If your child is interested, or if you have any specific questions please feel free to reach out to him at antoinegriggs@gmail.com. We are very fortunate in Fort Bend that lessons are taught during student's choir class time so no additional rehearsal time is necessary and I hope that many students will take advantage of this awesome opportunity!
