Items Recommended for Blended Learning
I have been working with my second-grade team as we try to wrap our heads around the Blended Learning format, and how it will look in the classroom as we put safety/precautionary protocols in place. In my hunt for an organized and "socially distanced" classroom, I have come up with a list of items that I believe will help us to be as successful as possible. These are suggested items only. If you are unable to provide these items, just let me know. I will do my best to help everyone out. Below is the list of items and some personal recommendations. Please do not feel like you need to stick to my recommendations. I just know that these particular items/brands have been very beneficial in my classroom throughout the years.
Please make sure to label all items!
- Beach towel in a reusable bag/shopping bag - I would like to have the kids outside as much as possible. In order to do this, I will need to use outside areas that are away from the playground and any type of outside seating. I would like to conduct lunch and some lessons outside.
- Large Pencil box - for storing individual supplies. I know that many stores are out of pencil boxes. A large Ziploc bag works just as well.
- Pencils and Small individual pencil sharpener- Here is my favorite pencil brand (Paper Mate Handwriting Triangular Mechanical Pencils). These are amazing because the lead never breaks, they last forever, no need for sharpening or sharpener, and perfect grip for little fingers. One package of these lasts my own children an entire school year. (Once again, this is just my recommendation-not requirement)
- Crayons- My recommendation is Crayola Twistable crayons. They last forever and no need for sharpening.
- Scissors
- Glue Sticks
- 3 one-subject notebooks - one of these will be used during our virtual learning for their reading response journal.
- Individual hand sanitizer-only for your child to use
- Small container of wipes-for your child

Virtual Schedule
Here is our virtual learning information:
- It is crucial for your student to log-in at 9:25 each morning for our morning meeting. We will start at 9:25 sharp. During this meeting, we will take attendance, go over the schedule for the day, and connect with the entire class. It's always a special time for our team building.
***If a situation arises, and you are unable to attend the 9:25 morning meeting "live", please let me know.*** - I will record all live morning meetings. That way if you miss it for some reason, you can still view it.
- All lessons will be either pre-recorded and/or recorded as they are taught live. That way you can review these lessons with your child at a later time.
- One-on-one and small group time will be scheduled according to your child's individual needs. Our schedule allows for many opportunities. (I will schedule those meetings with your child)
Sample Schedule-
- (9:25)- Morning Meeting
- Reading Lesson/assignment
- Small-Group time/1 on 1 meetings with students
- Writing Lesson/assignment
- Small-Group time/1 on 1 meetings with students
- (11:05-1:05) Lunchtime and Small Group time/1 on 1 meetings with students
- Math Lesson/assignment
- Small-Group time/1 on 1 meetings with students
Please remember that we are easing into the above schedule after expectations and routines have been established.

On Monday, September 14th, students will begin attending classes AT 9:25 a.m. two days a week and participate in remote learning two days a week. On Fridays, students will have remote check-ins, get extra assistance remotely or they will be able to schedule time to come in and meet with teachers in person. Students who do not wish to attend in-person instruction will continue to join classes remotely each day. We believe students will be most successful if they participate in online learning during the regularly scheduled times; however, we also understand there may be circumstances when this is not possible. All lessons will be recorded and posted for students to access as needed. How do I know which days my children will attend?
