Thank you, again, to all of the families who scheduled a time to meet with me during our second round of parent-teacher conferences last week on March 6th and 7th. If you were not able to make it in on either of those days and still would like to set up a time to meet in-person (or chat over the phone), I would love to set up an alternative time slot for us to discuss your child's progress. Recently, we finished up our unit regarding place value, decimals, and adding/subtracting large numbers (with regrouping). Next week, our class will be taking on multi-digit multiplication using partial products, the area model, and the standard algorithm. Homework that reinforces these new concepts/strategies being learned will be coming home Monday-Thursday.

In Language Arts, we officially kicked-off our exciting 5-Week Genre Study, where students will be diving into a variety of realistic fiction, mythology, mystery, informational, and poetry texts. Our genre-of-focus this week was Mystery. Students seemed to really enjoy selecting/reading mystery stories texts on many different topics. Next up: Greek Mythology! 🙂

This week, we began our new Science unit-of-study: The Human Machine. In this unit, we will be learning all about the skeletal system, the structure and function of the eyes, and the brain/nerves information processing system. In the next few days, students will be creating their own replica of the human eye!
