Hello GMSS families,

I hope you had a great weekend. This morning we had an all school assembly with a guest speaker to share the message of being yourself, avoiding peer pressure and having the guts to that! Our students seemed to enjoy this and did a great job.

KONA ICE will be here on Wednesday during lunches. The cost is $4.00 and this can be cash/card/etc. It is not taken out of the lunch accounts.

We are almost half way through the first quarter of school! As crazy as that sounds, progress of grades will be posted on Monday, September 13th at midnight! It is a good gauge to see how things are starting for students. We are here to support and to help with needed strategies.

The buses are seemingly smoothing out the routes! Big shout out to transportation and thank you for your patience.

CLUBS

Each week I will share about a way that we recognize students at GMSS - This week’s student recognition update: Academic Award - Honor Roll! At the conclusion of each quarter, grade point averages are calculated and any student with a 3.5 GPA or higher earns Honor Roll. Students are recognized on Honor Roll in several ways - a chromebook sticker is given out to each winner, their names are broadcast in our main lobby in the Academic Hall of Fame, they receive Survivor Team points, and we send a certificate home. Stay tuned for more, next week!

Our PTO is sponsoring our COLOR SPLASH fundraiser this year and every student will be involved! The fundraiser kicks off today, September 9th and the event is Friday, September 27th. All donations go directly to GMSS. PTO president and vice president came in to meet with students today!

GRIN (Gahanna Residents In Need) is providing supplemental food for students in need. Please fill out the form if you need for your student to receive extra food for the weekend. Your student would bring this home from school with them each week. Please keep in mind that this may not be enough food to get your student through the entire weekend. You may submit the form multiple times for multiple students.
