Rowland High School's 60th Anniversary Celebration
On Friday, September 27, John A. Rowland High School will celebrate 60 years of Raider Pride at the Homecoming Game vs Whittier HS. There will be pre-game festivities on campus and alumni recognition during the game. Join us for a special evening. GO RAIDERS!!

Senior of the Week
Iris Martinez Vasquez is being recognized by her counselor Mr. Elder. He would like to recognize Iris Martinez Vasquez. She is bright, she is positive, she is mature. She's contributed to RHS through Cross Country, Track, and our Senior Seminar Program. She's taken summer school every year of high school and is a great student. She doesn't ask for much and she is a delight to be around.
Athlete of the Week
Albert Rios was nominated by his water polo coach Mr. Cody. Albert Rios is a force in the pool, combining exceptional talent with remarkable athleticism. Consistently netting an impressive average of 6 goals per game, Rios's performance in the pool is nothing short of outstanding. However, his contributions extend far beyond mere statistics. Rios's natural leadership abilities shine when the team faces adversity, as he steps up to guide and inspire his teammates through challenging moments. This rare blend of physical skill and mental fortitude makes Rios an invaluable asset to his team both in and out of the water.
Scholar of the Week
Samuel Park has been nominated by the science department. Samuel is a student who combines intelligence with empathy in a way that truly sets him apart. His academic achievements are a testament to his sharp mind and dedication. He consistently demonstrates a deep understanding of complex concepts and approaches problem-solving with both creativity and critical thinking. Samuel’s intellectual curiosity is matched only by his commitment to his studies and his willingness to go above and beyond in every endeavor. What truly distinguishes Samuel is his exceptional kindness and empathy. He has a natural ability to connect with others, offering support and understanding in a manner that is both genuine and inspiring. Whether collaborating with peers or engaging with community members, Samuel’s compassion shines through, making him a pillar of support and a source of motivation for those around him. Moreover, Samuel possesses a remarkable sense of humor that brings joy to any environment. His ability to lighten the mood and foster a positive atmosphere is a quality that not only enhances group dynamics but also makes him a pleasure to work with. Samuel’s infectious enthusiasm and optimistic outlook create an environment where others feel valued and motivated.
Art Person of the Week
Hannah Lin nominated by her Art Teacher Ms. Smith. She is nominating Hannah Lin for her outstanding dedication in both AP 2-D and AP 3-D art. She consistently goes above and beyond, always staying on task and embracing new challenges, such as clay for the first time. Her hard work and enthusiasm are truly commendable.
AP Environmental Science Students Study the Nitrogen Cycle
Throughout the lab, students worked in teams, applying their knowledge of the nitrogen cycle to real-world simulations. The hands-on nature of the experiments fostered a collaborative learning environment, encouraging students to discuss their observations, troubleshoot issues, and analyze data together.
The lab also emphasized the importance of precise measurement and data recording. Students learned how to use scientific instruments and techniques to obtain accurate results, reinforcing their understanding of experimental design and data analysis.
French 2
French 2 has been learning to ask and respond to questions about their daily schedules and routines using reflexive verbs. Students will show their understanding and develop 21st-century skills by creating a video communicating and sharing their daily routines in French.
