Spring Concert
On Monday, May 20th, 2025, the Northern High School Chorus presented its annual Spring Chorus Concert, The Heart of Who We Are, marking the culmination of a year of hard work, growth, and musical achievement. Directed by Mrs. Laura Bissell, the concert featured performances by the Mixed Chorus, Bear Singers, Chamber Choir, Select Ensemble, Men's and Women's Choruses, Men's Quartet and Senior Song.
Each ensemble brought something special to the stage, performing a variety of musical styles that showcased their vocal technique, expression, and commitment to excellence. From powerful full-chorus pieces to more intimate selections, the evening highlighted the range and talent within the theme of the program.
A special moment in the concert came as the senior choir members performed together one final time, celebrating their years in the choral program and leaving a lasting impression on their peers. Senior Nicholas Keilholtz was featured as a soloist and recognized for his selection to the 2025 PMEA All-State Chorus and his leadership throughout his time in the program, having received the National School Choral Award. Special mention also went to Kylie Oyler and Christian Smacher for receiving Distinguished Service Awards for their contributions to the Woman's Chorus and Men's Quartet respectively. Christian also served as the Chorus President and was an exceptional leader to the Choir. Other deserving seniors will receive choral music awards at the Senior Awards Ceremony on May 27th, 2025, and on the senior's last day of school.
Thanks were extended to the many individuals who helped make the concert possible, including accompanists, student leaders, staff, and parent volunteers. The evening served as a celebration of music, community, and the lasting impact of the performing arts at Northern High School—an experience that reflects the heart of who we are.

Envirothon
The Elementary Envirothon teams would like to thank the Polar Bear Foundation for our hats! We are so very grateful for the grant that they were able to provide. Our competition days were wet and rainy, but it was easy to find our Northern York teams. We had a very successful Envirothon session. All four elementary schools were represented with very enthusiastic learners. Fifth Grade Teams had a new coach. Mrs. Moore took on the challenge of coaching NES G.O.A.T.S and NES Snappers. Mrs. Hoover coached the Wellsville Wild Wild Wolves and Dillsburg Unidentified Flying Birds (who won in the creative hat contest.) South Mountain fifth grade teams Determined Duckies and SM Destructive Duckies were coached by Dr. and Mrs. Foster. All teams did well. The competition was tough with 47 total teams.
There were 67 teams competing in the third and fourth grade competition. Northern Elementary teams NES G. O. A. T and Northern Elementary Eagles were coached by returning for her second year Mrs. Wolaver. Mrs. Hoover coached Wellsville Wildlife Wizards and Pink Puffy Turtles and Dillsburg teams Bone Eating Porcupines and Dillsburg Big Burrito Birds. The Burrito Birds won the creative hat contest, and they were two points away from scoring Gold. Dr. and Mrs. Foster coached South Mountain Destructive Duckies and Puffy Penguins. Elementary Envirothon has always had a strong showing as we celebrate 18 years with Mrs. Hoover and 25 with Dr. and Mrs. Foster. With an average of 20 students a year that is 860 students that have been a part of the Envirothon experience. It has been great to see this interest spark during their elementary years and have students continue on choosing career paths in wildlife or environmental protection.

Band Concert
Congratulations to the elementary band students on their successful concert on May 15th, 2025. 4th and 5th grade students from all 4 elementary schools combined to put on a concert with large and small group performances. These students worked hard all year to learn their instruments, how to read music, and how to play along with different instruments. These talented students contribute so much to our school and community! Great performing band!
