Hello Woodsy Owls,
Hello Woodsy Owls,
As we enter the final 10 weeks of the school year, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation for the incredible support we receive from our school community. Time is flying by, and we are so grateful for the dedication of our volunteers, staff, and families who make Sierra Hills such a special place for our students.
To our amazing volunteers—thank you! Whether you are assisting in the classrooms, supporting the Sight Word Busters program, leading the Running Club, managing the Hoot Loot store, or organizing vital fundraisers like our upcoming Jogathon on April 1st and 2nd, your time and effort make a lasting impact. Your dedication helps create enriching experiences for our students, and we are truly grateful.
I also want to extend my appreciation to all the parents who attended our recent conferences. Your partnership and involvement in your child’s education are invaluable. These connections between home and school are essential in supporting student growth and success.
And, of course, a special thank you to our tireless staff. Every day, you go above and beyond to ensure that ALL students receive the support, encouragement, and education they need to thrive. Your hard work and unwavering commitment do not go unnoticed, and we are so fortunate to have such a dedicated team.
As we move into these final months of the school year, let’s continue to work together to make this a memorable and successful time for our students. Thank you for all you do to support our school community!
Have a great week.
It truly takes a village.

Your third grade student is already enrolled for next year at Weimar Hills School
There is no need to contact Weimar Hills School or complete any additional paperwork for your student’s transition. As part of the same district as Sierra Hills Elementary School, the process is handled seamlessly.
Our teachers work diligently to place students in classes where they are most likely to thrive. They consider their experience with your child, their knowledge of fourth-grade standards, and their understanding of the teaching staff at Weimar Hills School. Additionally, they take into account each student's emotional, social, and intellectual development to ensure the best possible classroom placement, both in terms of teacher and peer group.
In May, all third-grade students and teachers will visit Weimar Hills School during the school day. This trip provides students with an opportunity to explore the campus, ease any concerns, and experience WHS’s welcoming environment.
Dianne Reynolds - ACSA Teacher Who Makes a Difference 24-25
Mrs. Dianne Reynolds is a true asset to our school district, with over 29 years of dedicated service. Her kindness, intelligence, and unwavering patience make her an exceptional educator. She balances firmness with love, creating a positive and supportive classroom environment. A lifelong learner, she continually enhances her teaching skills to stay current in her craft. Mrs. Reynolds is also a valued contributor to multiple committees and steps in seamlessly when the principal is absent. Her dedication and leadership make her an inspiration to students and colleagues alike. We are incredibly fortunate to have her in our school community.
Sara MacArthur - PHUSD Classified Paraprofessional of the Year 24-25
rs. MacArthur possesses a truly remarkable presence that positively impacts everyone around her. Wherever she works, her warmth and kindness create an environment where students feel happy, safe, and eager to be. Each morning, she greets our students with a smile and a friendly word at the drop-off area, and for many children, this moment is a highlight of their day. The students look forward to this interaction, and on the rare occasions when Mrs. MacArthur is absent, there is a noticeable sense of disappointment as they miss her comforting and familiar greeting.
For some students, the morning drop-off can be a difficult and emotional time as they separate from their parents. Mrs. MacArthur’s gentle, compassionate, and reassuring approach makes all the difference. With love and care, she helps these children out of the car, offering both a firm and nurturing presence as they navigate the challenging moment of saying goodbye. Her comforting hugs and kind words provide these students with the emotional support they need to start their day with confidence and a sense of security.
Mrs. MacArthur’s ability to create such a positive, welcoming atmosphere in the morning and foster a sense of belonging for each child speaks volumes about her character and dedication to our school community. She is a deeply valued member of our team, and her influence is felt by students, parents, and staff alike.
Patti Waskowiak - PHUSD Classified Employee of the Year 24-25
Mrs. Waskowiak routinely goes above and beyond her job description to help make
Sierra Hills Elementary School the wonderful place it is. When we have students that
have challenges with morning transitions, she opens her library and her heart as a
place to come and have a "soft start" to the day. On her own she has instituted a
reading club that rewards students after they read a specified number of books. She
reads a book to each class when they first come in for library time, teaches them
how to find things in the library, and then helps them locate "just the right book" to
check-out. Children at Sierra Hills Elementary School love the library and reading and
that is because of the great library technician we have.
WE STILL NEED PARENT VOLUNTEERS TO COORDINATE RAFFLE GIFTS FOR THE BOOTLEGGERS!
Last year our Auction for the Bootleggers Ball was a huge success thanks in part to the class items we received. We are hoping that the room parents and other family volunteers would like to participate again in donating an item or experience to our Auction.
I'm hoping the class parent or a parent can coordinate with the classroom teacher to create the items., either by getting people to donate a project or item, or by collecting money to create the raffle item.
Here is a list of some past items for inspiration.
Experiences - Principal for the Day, Movie Nights, Lego Party, Science Day, Paint Party
Class Items - Mosaic mirror, wheelbarrow art, owl art, kids portraits, classroom cookbook, framed art.
Parent items - photography, Starbucks basket, other parent donations
If you would like to coordinate this for your child's class, please contact the classroom teacher or the principal.

Huge Congratulations for our wonderful Kindergarten teacher, Ashley Rutledge. After working very hard in her evenings, weekends, and breaks from school, she has completed her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Grand Canyon University. We are so lucky to have such a great staff of life-long learners who work so hard to make sure that they are at the top of their game.
Make sure you congratulate her when you see her!
