Hungate Echo
Autumn Term, Week 8
A word from Mr Broom
To see the children running down the drive for the Halloween Disco was probably my highlight of this long half term, and we break today having had a hugely successful period of learning.
I'd also like to congratulate and thank everyone involved with our PFA in raising over £800 at the school disco. We'll use this to support learning right across the school. On another note, thank you to the vast majority of parent/carers who have given increased consideration to drop off and collection, reducing road safety risk to our children.
It's an exciting first week back, and especially for our Year 6 children as they embark on their four night residential visit. I'll be joining them on Thursday and Friday for River Walking and High Ropes. I can't wait!
Have a super half term everyone.

Curriculum and Assessment Review
On Wednesday 25 September, the curriculum and assessment review, chaired by Professor Becky Francis CBE, launched a call for evidence, open for 8 weeks.
The review is seeking evidence from young people and parents, teachers and lecturers, leaders, experts and employers on how the curriculum and assessment system can ensure all young people are prepared for life and work, including:
an excellent foundation in core subjects of reading, writing and maths
a broader curriculum, so that young people do not miss out on subjects such as music, art, sport and drama, as well as vocational subjects
a curriculum that ensures children and young people leave compulsory education ready for life and ready for work – this includes embedding digital, oracy and life skills in the curriculum
a curriculum that reflects the issues and diversities of our society, ensuring all children and young people are represented
an assessment system that captures the strengths of every child and young person and the breadth of curriculum, with the right balance of assessment methods whilst maintaining the important role of examinations
You can read more about the national curriculum and why it is being reviewed and respond to the call for evidence by Friday 22 November.
The review panel is also hosting a series of regional roadshows.
You can contact the review at curriculum-assessment.review@education.gov.uk.
