During this school year, we have broken down the 7 durable skills of Portrait of an NC Graduate. We have focused on one skill each month. We will continue to review and implement these skills everyday. Help us at home and go over ideas to help our students continue to grow in the competencies.

Test Day Strategies
- Get a good night's sleep.
- Have a smooth, pleasant start to your morning.
- Arrive to school on time.
- Eat a good, healthy breakfast. All students receive free breakfast at school each day.
- Work hard and try your best.
Books on Break
Haywood County Schools partnered with Book Harvest. On May 30th, every student will pick out 11 books to bring home to grow their home library! We are so thrilled for this way to grow our students love for reading!
Water Day
Water Day will be held on Thursday, May 30th. We need parent volunteers to help make this day a success. There will be options to volunteer for different activities. Look out for a flyer coming home with your student soon so you know what times they will be participating in the activities.
Testing to show all the growth and knowledge that your child has learned this year is here! Help us make sure that they are their best selves for testing by ensuring they have a good breakfast (either at home or school), get a good night's rest, and start their day off great! Our goal is to have perfect attendance on test days. Please make sure your child is here unless they are sick.
- K-2 mClass Reading Testing: Testing will be over the span of 3 weeks, but the following days are dates that the majority of testing will occur.
- April 29th - May 3rd
- 3-5 EOG Testing:
- Science Test (5th only) - May 17th (If your child takes their test over two days, they will test on May 20th as well.)
- Reading Test - May 21st (If your child takes their test over two days, they will test on May 22nd as well.)
- Math Test - May 23rd (If your child takes their test over two days, they will test on May 24th as well.)
